Frequently Asked Questions
Want to know more about Cunard Line
Are gratuities included?

Cunard cruises include a hotel and dining service charge in the fare, which serves as a pre-paid gratuity distributed directly to the crew. This charge, automatically added to your onboard account, covers the efforts of the restaurant and housekeeping staff, eliminating the need for additional tipping.

The amount varies by stateroom category, with higher charges for Queens and Princess Grill Suites than for Britannia Staterooms. Cunard advises that no extra tipping is necessary, as the service charge is designed to fairly compensate the crew.

How do I pay onboard a Cunard Cruise?

Cunard operates a cashless system, requiring guests to register a credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Diners Club) at check-in for onboard purchases. Charges are posted to your onboard account when using your cruise card at bars, restaurants and shops. A surcharge of 1.1% applies to Visa and Mastercard and 2.75% to American Express, while debit cards have no fees. A 15% service charge is added to beverage purchases.

No cash machines are available, but cash can be requested from the Purser's Desk. Your account is settled on disembarkation, with pre-authorisation holds placed throughout the voyage to ensure sufficient funds.

Please note: All onboard prices are in US dollars.

Can I bring my own alcohol onboard?

You can bring a bottle of alcohol (750ml per guest) on board to enjoy in your stateroom or (for a corkage fee) in one of Cunard’s restaurants. Cunard strongly recommends that glass bottles be carried in your hand luggage, as Cunard cannot be held liable for any breakages that may occur in main luggage items.

Do I need a passport to take on a Cunard Cruise?

All guests are required to have a valid passport to travel.

Although domestic cruises may not strictly require a passport (please check the local government website for your home country in these cases), Cunard strongly recommends a passport be used.

Are Cunard Cruises family-friendly?

Cunard cruises can be a great choice for families, offering dedicated children's clubs and activities for all ages. Complimentary clubs include The Play Zone (2-7 years), The Kids' Zone (8-12 years), The Teen Zone (13-17 years), and a Night Nursery for little ones, all supervised by qualified staff. Kids can enjoy arts and crafts, games, sports, and play areas, while families can bond over movies, shows, on-deck activities and swimming pools.

Are there Adults-Only areas on Cunard Cruises?

Yes, Cunard cruises offer adults-only areas for guests seeking a more peaceful experience. On some ships, there will be designated pools for adults only. Additionally, the onboard spas, including the Mareel Wellness & Beauty facilities, offer adult-focused relaxation with thermal suites, saunas and treatment rooms.

Will the ship have Wi-Fi?

Yes, Cunard ships offer Wi-Fi access for onboard use, with various internet plans available for purchase, including Essential and Premium options.

How do I check in for my cruise?

To check in for your Cunard cruise, access the My Cunard portal 21 days before your departure, complete online check-in, print your boarding pass and luggage labels, and plan your travel to the ship's terminal.
