Please note:

  • Please ensure your flight arrives no later than 13:20, as later arrivals will miss the scheduled transfer and afternoon touring.
  • This is a semi-guided experience combining a 4-day/3-night tour with a 1-day tour. Guided days are led by accredited Red Centre guides, and accommodation is included. Some components of the itinerary are self-guided, as indicated.

After completing the 13:30 pick-ups from the Airport, your guide will meet you at the front of the Outback Pioneer Hotel at 13:45.

The walk begins with its most challenging section, a steep climb of around 500 steps. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping 360-degree views across the canyon. Continue along the rim and descend into the lush Garden of Eden, before climbing back to the top to take in more panoramic vistas.

Along the way, pass through Priscilla’s Crack, made famous by the iconic Australian film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and pause at the first lookout over the canyon. From here, admire the remarkable sandstone domes known as the “Lost City,” often described as a miniature version of Purnululu National Park due to their striking resemblance to an ancient cityscape. After exploring the rim, descend to the tranquil Garden of Eden, a permanent waterhole surrounded by lush greenery. Cross the secured bridge over the sacred watering hole and take time to soak in this serene and photogenic setting before climbing back up to the southern side of the canyon.

Other important information

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide:
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
From July to September, the Alice Springs and Uluru region enjoy some of the most pleasant and comfortable weather of the year.
This period falls within Central Australia’s dry season, bringing clear blue skies, low humidity and minimal rainfall.
Average daytime temperatures: 18°C to 28°C

Overnight temperatures: 3°C to 12°C

July is typically the coolest month, with crisp mornings that can drop close to 0°C overnight, while August and September gradually warm up with milder evenings and warm, sunny days.
The dry air means large temperature variations between day and night, so layered clothing is recommended. Overall, this is considered one of the best times to visit the Red Centre, offering ideal conditions for walking, sightseeing and outdoor exploration.

Weather
We always suggest referring to an online source for the most up-to-date weather information for your destination/s.

COACH TOUR
Meals:
For meals not included, the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. It is your responsibility to notify us of any dietary requests/requirements.

Please note: We will do our best to meet your requests/requirements; however, we cannot guarantee that we will always be able to.

Luggage:
You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on tour. You must carry your own luggage from the vehicle to the hotel room and back to the vehicle. The driver will assist with the uploading and unloading of bags from the vehicle.

OTHER
Mobility:
If you require wheelchair access please contact our friendly sales and service team to inquire on your behalf.

Fitness Level Required:
Adventure (and spontaneity) create some of the best travel memories. Bear in mind, your home schedules and timings might not be adhered to on tour - it's all part of the fun!

A moderate to high level of fitness is required
This means you should be comfortable with a moderately paced touring schedule that includes full days of guided sightseeing and nature walks. Participants should have a general level of fitness to manage unassisted stair climbing, inclines, and longer walking distances, with occasional extended periods of standing. Some walks involve sloping or uneven terrain and varying elevations.
Please note that the Kings Canyon Rim Walk is the most physically demanding experience of the journey. The walk begins with its toughest section — a steep ascent of approximately 500 steps — before continuing along the canyon rim.
You will be responsible for your own luggage and have the ability to board all modes of transport without assistance. Please note: Many areas may be inaccessible to wheelchairs or mobility scooters, where the unassisted use of personal walking sticks and other aids may be required. Every traveller should be self-reliant during all aspects of their travel.

If you have any doubts about whether this trip suits your abilities or needs, please discuss your personal circumstances with your booking agent to ensure this tour is appropriate for you. If you have any concerns, please consult your healthcare provider prior to purchase/travel.
Sightseeing:
Please note: If entry to a site is affected by changes in operating hours or public holiday closures, your itinerary, where possible, may be adjusted, or a similar activity will be offered in its place (subject to availability).

Travel insurance

Embarking on your next trip is exciting, and while you hope the unexpected does not happen, it is best to be prepared. We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance when making your booking. Whether it’s a potential medical emergency, a flight cancellation, a delayed suitcase, or an unforeseen event, it's important to ensure you're adequately protected.
