Day 5 Marseille, France

Arrive: 08:00 - Depart: 18:00

France's sunniest and oldest city may not have the glamour of some of its Côte d'Azur neighbours, but what it lacks in glitz, it certainly makes up for in authenticity and cultural depth. France's second-most populous city, Marseille, served as European Capital of Culture in 2013 and is a fantastic hub of museums, creativity, and colour. The Le Panier district is a vivid illustration of this with its faded streets revitalised by overflowing flowerpots and pretty, naturally distressed doorways. Look down to the yacht-crammed port, where fishermen still unload fresh catches, from the viewpoint at the spectacular Notre-Dame de la Garde. Standing atop the bell tower of this Neo-Byzantine basilica, the soaring golden statue of the Madonna and Child rises high into the air and is visible from all over the city. The huge Marseille Cathedral is equally impressive, with its stunning zebra-striped exterior.

Palais Longchamp, completed in 1869, twinkles with flowing water; its lush gardens and splashing fountains were built to celebrate the engineering feat of redirecting water from the Durance River to the city. You cannot leave Marseille without tucking into its famous fish stew, bouillabaisse. Flavoured with saffron, garlic, and an array of Mediterranean rockfish, it is a bold and delicious taste of Provence. Wash your hands clean after with some of Marseille's traditional soap (Savon de Marseille), created using a centuries-old recipe of at least 72% olive oil. Escape the hubbub of the city to soak in the natural glory of Calanques National Park, located just 15 kilometres from the city centre. Hike, kayak, and sail your way through a treasure trove of limestone cliffs dropping off to hidden beaches.

Day 7 Palma De Mallorca, Spain (overnight)

Arrive: 08:00 - Depart: overnight in port.

A rugged Mediterranean gem arising out of the rich blue haze, Mallorca is a Spanish island of cuisine, culture, and sun-gorged beaches. Palma de Mallorca is the island's dominating capital and a sand-coloured mirage of glorious buildings and living history. Conquered and liberated countless times over the years since its Bronze Age founding, the city is your gateway to ceaseless Mediterranean beauty, buzzy markets, and intense flavours. Cafés and bars wait close to the sweeping coastline, where you can enjoy strong espressos to kick-start the day, or splashes of red Mallorcan wines to round it off. Bicycles trundle up and down the promenade, which invites you to wander in the morning sunshine beside the waves. Dominated by the indefatigable form of La Seu (Cathedral of Santa Maria), which looms over the city and coastline, Palma de Mallorca is drenched in history and culture.

The labyrinth of the old town is a cobbled haven, which bustles with dripping ice creams and sun-lashed squares. Settle to try the island's superb cuisine and savour local ingredients with an exceptional depth of flavour. The creation of the mighty cathedral, La Seu, began in 1229 and was eventually concluded in 1601. A perfect encapsulation of Palma de Mallorca's blend of the historic and the contemporary, even Gaudí lent his hand to its restoration. The interior features a spectacular modernist ceramic mural by artist Miquel Barceló, which is sculpted across the chapel's walls. The splendid Royal Palace of La Almudaina fortress stands nearby, a left-behind Moorish footprint of square towers and Arabic archways that now serves as an official summer residence for the King of Spain.

Day 10 Gibraltar, Gibraltar

Arrive: 08:00 - Depart: 19:00

A curious slice of Britain, picked up and plonked into the sun, sea, and sand of southern Spain, Gibraltar is a unique and historic peninsula, crowned by the iconic Rock of Gibraltar. Bright red phone boxes gleam, Union Jacks flutter in the breeze, and cones of fish and chips are enjoyed in the sun in this most British of outposts. At times a surreal juxtaposition, you can be gazing at the African shoreline from the beach one moment, and carefully treading across the runway of a busy international airport the next. Gibraltar's cathedral-like Rock towers 426 metres above the waves, the stark limestone mountain watching out across the narrow, strategic strait between the European and African continents.

The pointed Rock is a symbol of this unique place, and you can hike to the summit, or take the convenient cable car, to enjoy the views and meet the mischievous colony of Barbary macaques who live on its slopes. Europe's only wild primates roam free on the mountain; be sure to secure your belongings, as they are known to snatch sunglasses and cameras. The Great Siege Tunnels bring to life the 18th-century struggles for this land, where soldiers bored through the rock by hand to create a giant, defensive watchtower. Natural caves, such as St. Michael’s Cave, droop with spectacular stalactites, while the Moorish Castle stands proudly as a reminder of the peninsula's medieval past. Gibraltar packs a vast amount into its 6.7 square kilometres of territory. Grand Casemates Square is a sun-drenched plaza where drizzly Britain feels a world away as you sit back and sip ice-cold beers and cocktails in Gibraltar's historic centre.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 11 Malaga, Costa del Sol, Spain

Arrive: 08:00 - Depart: 18:00

Bathing in the Costa del Sol's stunning subtropical climate and laying out endless spectacular beaches, it is no surprise that Malaga is one of Spain's most popular cities. The already impressive cultural appeal of this holiday city has skyrocketed over recent years; with a storied old town and Moorish fortifications, Malaga has a lot to offer. Nearby, you can recline on the renowned beaches of the Costa del Sol or venture inland to discover the Moorish treasures of Granada (approximately 125 kilometres away). La Malagueta beach is Malaga's spacious urban beach, perfect for a sunbathe and a dip in the warm water before enjoying seaside cocktails or seafood tapas in the restaurants nearby. Malaga can now stake a genuine claim as an artistic powerhouse. Visit the renowned Picasso Museum, housed in a 16th-century palace, before exploring the striking glass cube of the Pompidou Centre at the port.

The art also spills out onto the streets in the colourful Soho district, which is splashed with vibrant street paintings. Known as La Manquita (The One-Armed Lady), the city's cathedral rises over the historic old town. Its huge bell tower stands tall, but an accompanying second tower was never completed. The Alcazaba fortress palace looms over the waterfront and forms a spectacularly preserved remnant from the era when the Moors controlled the Andalusia region. For those wishing to see more Arabic influence, excursions to Granada's Alhambra palace and Cordoba's La Mezquita mosque are popular, though they require a full-day commitment. Together with Seville's converted cathedral, the cities form Andalusia's Golden Triangle of Moorish wonders.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 12 Cartagena,Spain

Arrive: 09:00 - Depart: 18:00

On the crossroads of mighty cultures, this Murcian port has endless ancient stories to share. A valuable natural harbour attracted many civilisations to this sun-bathed setting following its foundation by the Carthaginians in 227 BC. Blending the imprints left by countless cultures, the presence of everyone from the Romans to the Moors can be felt as you walk between ruins and celebrated modernist architecture along Calle Mayor. Cartagena is crowned by the soaring Castillo de la Concepción; you can rise to the stout castle aboard a panoramic lift. Inside, look through archaeological treasures or admire the rolling views down over the port and the Mediterranean Sea. Watch out for the vibrant peacocks that strut flamboyantly through the surrounding gardens. Cartagena's emergence as a premier destination coincided with a stunning discovery in 1988, the site of a gloriously preserved Roman Theatre.

Enter to sit among the grandiose ancient venue, so evocative you cannot help but imagine the historic performances that once graced its stage. Wander the breezy waterfront, spotting gleaming warships; Cartagena's deep-water harbour has been one of Spain's most strategic naval positions since the 16th century. Settle to enjoy the joys of tapas in lively bars, sampling crisped paella, fresh squid, and honeyed aubergine. If visiting during Easter, the Semana Santa festivities are famously intense here, as hooded processions and lavish floats roll through the historic centre.

Day 13 Valencia, Spain

Arrive: 0800 - Depart: 1800

Valencia is a proud city. During the Spanish Civil War, it served as the capital of the Republic, holding out until 1939. Today, it represents the essence of contemporary Spain’s daring design and experimental cuisine while remaining deeply proud of its traditions. Though it faces the Mediterranean, Valencia's history has been defined by the River Turia and the fertile floodplain (huerta) that surrounds it. Founded by the Romans in 138 BC, the city has been fiercely contested throughout the centuries. According to legend, the medieval hero El Cid won his strangest victory here in 1099; though he had died during the siege, his body was reportedly strapped into his saddle to inspire his men and terrify the retreating Moors. Modern Valencia is famous for its urban beautification, specifically the diversion of the River Turia following the disastrous floods of 1957.

The graceful bridges that once spanned the water now overlook a lush, 9-kilometre-long municipal park. At the end of this green artery lies the spectacularly futuristic City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias). Designed largely by Valencia-born architect Santiago Calatrava, it creates a stunning architectural link between the old city and the Mediterranean. No visit to the home of paella is complete without sampling the local cuisine, featuring the freshest ingredients from the nearby huerta. If time permits, an excursion to the Albufera Nature Park, located just 10 kilometres south of the city, offers a glimpse into the traditional rice-growing wetlands.

A mystical island of rustic beauty, featuring long stretches of sandy beaches, hidden coves, and sunsets that ladle flourishes of reds and pinks across the skies. The "White Isle" is so much more than its thudding summer party scene; an island of culture, fine dining, and sophisticated elegance awaits. Ibiza has always called out to those seeking escape and sanctuary, and you will soon feel the island's magic as you dine on calamari and octopus platters and revel in Ibiza's rejuvenating, artistic ambiance. Ibiza Town's 16th-century old town (Dalt Vila) is a maze of wide, cobbled streets lined with a crowd of outdoor bars and energetic restaurants serving up generous platters of fresh seafood.

The steep walls of the rustic citadel, Dalt Vila fortress, tower over the town; the area is peppered with museums and historical quirks, as well as the crowning Catedral de Eivissa. Wind up along pathways of uneven cobbles for unrivalled views out over the city and waves below. Play a round of golf on the island's scenic course, lounge on a beach, or sail with the yachting crowd on the calm waves as you rejuvenate in Ibiza's heavenly glow. Beaches are long and sandy, choose between humming options where water sports take place or seek out quieter scenic coves to enjoy the shade of pine trees and swim in shallow waters.

You may find that you are mysteriously drawn to the 413-metre-high protrusion of Es Vedrà, a rocky, uninhabited island which rears from the waves opposite Cala d’Hort beach. Island whispers proclaim it to be one of the earth’s most magnetic points and home to the sirens of Ancient Greece.

Step through grand, castellated gates and find Alcúdia’s charming old town—alive with the affable energy of tapas bars, colourful ceramic shops, and ornate churches. Legendary open-air markets draw crowds from across the island to this characterful town on Mallorca's north coast. An authentic Mallorcan experience, flowers spill from scenic ledges around faded doors and honey-coloured stone. Built 1.6 kilometres inland from Port d’Alcúdia, where golden sands meet turquoise Mediterranean waters, the medieval core was designed for protection from pirates and remains encircled by partially walkable 14th-century walls. The ruins of the important Roman city of Pollentia lie close by, including Spain's smallest Roman theatre. Nearby S’Albufera’s wetlands shelter hundreds of bird species, providing a serene escape for nature lovers.

Day 8 Palamos, Spain

Arrive: 08:00 - Depart: 19:00

A place of monasteries tucked into mountains, surreal art, and gorgeous beaches, Palamós is your gateway to the Costa Brava's scenic beauty and the cultural wonders of Catalonia. Inspect the rugged coastline and you can almost see the Catalan flag's blood and gold colours reflected in the craggy red cliffs and golden sands. Soak in the unfiltered glory of Spain's "Wild Coast", which is fringed with attractive beaches and rock-dappled outcrops plunging into the blue Mediterranean waves. Known for its rich, succulent red prawns (Gamba de Palamós), the town is a flavourful stop of culture, coastline, and historic charm.

Just 43 kilometres inland from the tempting beaches, you will find Girona’s medieval city looming. Four rivers converge in this delightfully walkable city, where you can soak up the atmosphere of the cobbled old town protected by historic ramparts. A steep ramp of 90 steps leads up to the Baroque façade of the Cathedral of Girona, which towers over the city and boasts the world's widest Gothic nave, an uninterrupted span of 22.98 metres. Figueres is also close by, where you can enter the “theatrical dream” conceived by the master of surrealism, Salvador Dalí. Born in Figueres, his hometown honours his memory at the irresistible Dalí Theatre, Museum, a gloriously bizarre and immersive experience. Day 9 Toulon, France

Arrive: 0800 - Depart: 1800

Home to France’s principal naval base, aircraft carriers, and naval shipyards, Toulon stands apart from the glitzy allure of the rest of the Côte d’Azur. At first glance, its genuine charms can appear guarded by this military presence, but seeking them out is part of the fun. For a city that is all about the sea, there is no better place to start than the harbour. With yachts and fishing boats providing an animated backdrop, there are plenty of excellent restaurants in which to dine. It is also here that you will find the highly recommended National Navy Museum (Musee National de la Marine), which traces Toulon’s long and often dramatic maritime history.

Above the town rises Mont Faron, 584 metres high, offering an panoramic overview and the perfect spot for photographs of this southern French city and the turquoise bay below. A cable car takes the effort out of the climb, and nearby is the recently renovated Mémorial du Debarquement et de la Liberation de Provence, which tells the moving story of the Allied landings in 1944. Sea-salt breezes mingle with the perfume of lavender and herbs from the marketplaces in the recently restored Old Town—a maze of narrow alleyways that open onto delightful squares like Cours Lafayette. Approximately 3 kilometres from the city centre lies the small fishing port of Le Mourillon, featuring haut-bourgeois architecture, traditional French markets, and sandy beaches. For those seeking seclusion, the wild beach of Anse de Magaud is one of the most beautiful spots in the region.

Day 12 Alicante, Spain

Arrive: 0800 - Depart: 1800

The bustling resort of Alicante (Costa Blanca) is one of the loveliest holiday spots along Spain’s sunny Costa Blanca and historically served as the primary maritime gateway for the landlocked capital, Madrid. This popularity is primarily due to the pleasant Mediterranean climate. Various civilisations have flourished along these shores; early records indicate that the city dates back to a Carthaginian settlement established in 325 BC. These settlers were followed by the Romans, who equally found the area inviting. The Moors then ruled this region for five centuries and named the city Al-Laqant, from which the modern name originates.

The city’s occupation by Roman and Moorish forces accounts for a notable and varied heritage; much of this cultural impact remains apparent today in the architecture, local dialects, and cuisine. Today, much of the city’s economy is based on tourism and agriculture. Wine, raisins, and other local produce from the surrounding regions are exported from the port to international destinations.

Day 13 Valencia, Spain

Arrive: 08:00 - Depart: 18:00

Arrive: 08:30 - Depart: 18:00

Home to France’s principal naval base, aircraft carriers, and naval shipyards, Toulon stands apart from the glitzy allure of the rest of the Cote d’Azur. It is also here that you will find the highly recommended National Navy Museum (Musée National de la Marine), which traces Toulon’s long and often dramatic maritime history.

Above the town rises Mont Faron, 584 metres high, offering an panoramic overview and the perfect spot for photographs of this southern French city and the turquoise bay below. A cable car takes the effort out of the climb, and nearby is the recently renovated Memorial du Debarquement et de la Liberation de Provence, which tells the moving story of the Allied landings in 1944. Sea-salt breezes mingle with the perfume of lavender and herbs from the marketplaces in the recently restored Old Town, a maze of narrow alleyways that open onto delightful squares like Cours Lafayette. Approximately 3 kilometres from the city centre lies the small fishing port of Le Mourillon, featuring haut-bourgeois architecture, traditional French markets, and sandy beaches. The interior features a spectacular modernist ceramic mural by artist Miquel Barceló, which is sculpted across the chapel's walls. Nearby S’Albufera’s wetlands shelter hundreds of bird species, providing a serene escape for nature lovers.

Other important information

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide:
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
Spain
In Spain, the shoulder seasons of April and May bring delightful spring warmth, while November offers a crisp but mild transition into winter. In April, coastal gems like Malaga, Alicante, and Cartagena enjoy pleasant highs of around 20°C to 22°C, while the islands of Majorca and Ibiza sit slightly cooler at 18°C to 20°C; Valencia and Palamos typically reach about 19°C. By May, the mercury climbs significantly, with Malaga often hitting a balmy 24°C to 25°C, while Alicante, Valencia, and Cartagena hover between 22°C and 23°C, and the Balearic Islands (Majorca and Ibiza) average a perfect 22°C—ideal for exploring without the summer heat. As November arrives, the temperatures remain relatively mild compared to Northern Europe, with southern and eastern spots like Malaga, Alicante, and Cartagena still reaching comfortable highs of 18°C to 20°C, while Majorca, Ibiza, and Valencia generally range from 17°C to 19°C; however, Palamos and the northern coast begin to cool down to around 15°C or 16°C, often accompanied by the year’s highest chance of rainfall.

France
In Southern France, the Mediterranean climate provides a beautiful backdrop for spring adventures and a cool, atmospheric autumn. During April, Marseille and Toulon begin to wake up with crisp, sunny days featuring highs of around 18°C, though the famous Mistral wind can make it feel a bit nippier. By May, the region truly shines as temperatures climb to a very comfortable 22°C, offering perfect conditions for strolling along the Vieux-Port or the beaches of Toulon before the summer crowds arrive. As the calendar turns to November, the air turns cooler and crisper with highs averaging around 15°C; while it remains milder than much of Europe, this month tends to be the wettest for the French Riviera, so you'll want to trade your sunglasses for an umbrella and a light coat.

Gibraltar
In Gibraltar, November brings a mild and breezy atmosphere as the summer heat fully gives way to autumn. You can expect pleasant daytime highs of around 19°C, which cool down to a crisp 14°C at night—ideal for a light jacket while exploring the Rock. While it remains relatively sunny with about five hours of bright sunshine daily, November is historically one of the wetter months for the territory, averaging around 10 rainy days. The sea temperature also drops to about 18°C, making it a bit too chilly for a swim but perfect for enjoying the coastal views without the intense humidity of the warmer months.

London
In London, the weather during these months is famously changeable, requiring a bit more layering than your Mediterranean stops. April sees the city shaking off the winter chill with average highs of 15°C, though "April showers" are a common occurrence and evenings can still drop to a brisk 7°C. By May, the city truly comes alive with pleasant highs reaching 18°C, offering some of the best sightseeing weather of the year with longer daylight hours and blooming parks. However, November brings a significant shift as the city heads toward winter; temperatures typically peak at just 12°C and can fall to 6°C or lower at night, often accompanied by misty mornings and more frequent rainfall, making a warm coat and a sturdy umbrella essential for your visit.

Weather
We always suggest referring to an online source for the most up-to-date weather information for your destination/s.

Supplier Fees
In the event the tour package you have purchased is unable to proceed, and/or a Travel Supplier is unable to fulfil the tour due to external circumstances (Limitation of Liability e.g. a Force Majeure event), there may be a fee or amount of money that is withheld by our Suppliers and is unrecoverable. This may be due to non-refundable airline tickets, cancellation penalties with cruise cabins or unrecoverable payments with our land/accommodation partners. If refunds are not available from Suppliers, we will endeavour to obtain a travel credit on the best terms available and communicate these outcomes to you. In the event we are unable to obtain a refund or travel service credit, or part thereof, this cost is passed on to the customer as a Supplier Fee.
