Why We’re Loving Australia

There’s no place like home, right? A country of ancient cultures, vast open spaces, refreshing rainforests and some of the best beaches in the world. Check out these fun facts about why we’re loving Australia – the Great Southern Land.

Good chat
Where else in the world is abbreviating everything a national sport? Strayans love 2 syllables – think barbies, mozzies, Macca’s, arvos, footy, biccies, tradies, firies, ambos and cuppas.

Laid back nation
Anything and everything can be fixed with a quick “she’ll be right”. Can’t find the car keys, had your arm taken off by a shark? She’ll be right.

Endless beaches
There are 10,685 beaches in Australia, and it would take around 29 years to visit a new one daily.

Poopidy scoop
The rotund Wombat, poops cubes. Square meals perhaps?

Taking the piss

Going where?
A friendly “How’s it going?” might seem perfectly logical to a Strayan, but will be met with confused faces overseas, and a long explanation of someone’s footsteps eg “Well, I’m going to walk down to the shop and get some groceries, actually”. Um, we didn’t ask!

Country of comedians
An Australian man once tried to sell New Zealand on eBay, with a starting price of AUD $0.01.

Baffling
the only nation where “Yeah, nah” and “Nah, yeah” makes complete sense.
