Itinerary

Itinerary 1
Day 1 Australia (or New Zealand) - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Today, depart from Australia (or New Zealand) to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, be welcomed and transferred to the hotel.

Kuala Lumpur is the heart and soul of Malaysia; the name itself even means "the muddy confluence", describing where rivers come together. Nowadays, the city is the ultimate hub for culture, finance and economics in Malaysia, with modern skyscrapers like the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and the Exchange 106 sharing the skyline with charming colonial landmarks in Chinatown and Independence Square (Dataran Merdeka). The eclectic mix of cultures means a delicious culinary mix of Malaysian, Chinese and Indian flavours, so don't leave without trying Nasi Lemak (not included).

Please note: Due to flight scheduling some flights may depart on Day 0. Affected customers must be at the airport the day before. Flight times will be indicated on your final documentation which you will receive around 6 weeks before departure.

Overnight: Verdant Hill Hotel or similar

Meals included: In-Flight

Day 2 Kuala Lumpur

In the morning, begin your tour to the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur and visit Batu Caves, a limestone outcrop located just north of Kuala Lumpur, boasting three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. Its main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance next to 272 colourful steps, which offer views of the stunning skyline. You can find monkeys frolicking around the caves, and it's also a popular spot for rock-climbing enthusiasts. Take note of the incredible paintings and scenes of Hindu Gods in the Ramayana Cave.

After visiting the temple, return to Kuala Lumpur’s city centre and continue your exploration with a guided heritage walk that traces the city’s fascinating evolution, from a dense jungle and humble tin-mining village to the vibrant metropolis it is today. The walk begins at the edge of Chinatown, where one of the first clan houses was established in 1896, and then continues through Petaling Street and Central Market. From there, follow the route to the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers, where Kuala Lumpur was first founded, and end at the historic Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square).

Covering no more than 2 kilometres, the walk includes several stops at key landmarks such as the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, the Si Sze Ya Temple, and other sites of historical importance. Along the way, your guide will share stories of Kuala Lumpur’s early days and the rich blend of cultures, traditions, and religions that shaped the nation.

Afterwards, return to the hotel where you can enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 3 Kuala Lumpur - Rompin State Park

Located in Taman Negeri, Rompin district, it was gazetted as a Permanent Reserved Forest in 2000 and spans 31,797 hectares of pristine rainforest, which is managed sustainably by the Pahang State Forestry Department. This protected park is home to an extraordinary diversity of flora, fauna, geology, and history, offering a rare glimpse of untouched natural beauty.

Taman Negeri Rompin is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, with over 253 species of birds and 83 species of mammals, including bats, along with 14 species of snakes, 9 lizards, and 3 species of turtles. Among its many natural highlights is the magnificent Seri Mahkota Waterfall, a 50-metre cascade that tumbles into a clear natural pool, perfect for a refreshing swim and Padang Tujuh, a unique forest accessible via hiking trail, known for its three distinct vegetation zones and endemic plant life. The park’s three main rivers, Sungai Kinchin, Ulu Kemapan, and Sungai Kernam, provide idyllic settings for kayaking (additional cost) through crystal-clear waters surrounded by pristine rainforest.

Upon arrival, check in at Rompin Rainforest Lodge and take some time to explore the surrounding area, including the hanging bridge and observation tower.

As evening falls, enjoy dinner at the lodge before joining a guided night walk along nearby trails in search of nocturnal mammals, reptiles, and insects.

At the end of the experience, return to the canteen for a nightcap or retire to your room for a well-earned rest.

Other important information

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide:
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
Kuala Lumpur
From April to October, Kuala Lumpur is warm and humid, with daytime temperatures generally ranging from 29–34°C and evenings cooling slightly to around 24–26°C. Rainfall is frequent, especially in the form of short but intense afternoon showers, with slightly drier periods between June and August. Humidity remains high year-round, making lightweight, breathable clothing essential.

Rompin State Park
Rompin State Park experiences similar tropical conditions, with daytime temperatures around 31–33°C and nighttime temperatures of 23–25°C. The rainforest setting means humidity is consistently high, and rainfall can be heavy, particularly in October. May to September tends to be somewhat drier, offering better conditions for hiking, river activities, and wildlife spotting.

Tanjong Jara
Tanjong Jara enjoys hot and humid conditions along the east coast, with daytime temperatures between 28–32°C and nights around 24–26°C. The period from April to September is generally pleasant, while October marks the start of the wetter season, with increased rainfall. The warm sea and coastal breezes make it ideal for beach relaxation and spa treatments, even during humid days.

Perhentian Islands
The Perhentian Islands are warm and sunny from April to October, with daytime temperatures of 30–32°C and nights around 23–24°C. Humidity is high, but the dry season offers calm seas and excellent conditions for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. Rainfall is minimal compared with other regions, making this period the perfect time to enjoy the islands’ pristine beaches and turquoise waters.

Weather
We always suggest referring to an online source for the most up-to-date weather information for your destination/s.

FLIGHTS
Seat Selection & Frequent Flyer Points:
We do not arrange seat selection. It is essential to highlight that some airlines do not allow pre-selected seats. We strongly suggest you contact the airline directly with seating allocation requirements and/or arrive at the airport earlier to arrange your seating. While we do not add frequent flyer member details to bookings, you can do this directly with the airline once you have your flight information.

Dietary Requests
Meal options and availability differ between airlines and routes therefore not all dietary requests can be accommodated. If your flight includes meals we will select the most suitable option available based on the dietary requirements you have specified. All meal requests are subject to airline approval and are not guaranteed, therefore we recommend preparing for your flight by bringing appropriate food for yourself, as required.

Passport Validity:
Customers must provide valid passport details either at the time of purchase or no later than 90 days before the departure date. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of the booking. Customers will be responsible for any costs and fees incurred in this instance.

COACH TOUR
Meals:
For meals not included, the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. It is your responsibility to notify us of any dietary requests/requirements.

Please note: We will do our best to meet your requests/requirements; however, we cannot guarantee that we will always be able to.

Luggage:
You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on tour. You must carry your own luggage from the vehicle to the hotel room and back to the vehicle. The driver will assist with the uploading and unloading of bags from the vehicle.

OTHER
Mobility:
If you require wheelchair access please contact our friendly sales and service team to inquire on your behalf.

Fitness Level Required:
Adventure (and spontaneity) create some of the best travel memories. Bear in mind, your home schedules and timings might not be adhered to on tour - it's all part of the fun!

A moderate level of fitness will be required. Expect a moderate pace of touring with a focus on guided tours that may include full days with extended activity, guided city tours or nature walks. You will require a general level of fitness for unassisted navigation of stairs and inclines, longer distances with possible periods of standing when visiting sites, walking on sloping, uneven ground or elevations. You will be responsible for your own luggage and have the ability to board all modes of transport without assistance.

Please note: Many areas may be inaccessible to wheelchairs or mobility scooters, where the unassisted use of personal walking sticks and other aids may be required. Although some assistance may be available, every traveller should be self-reliant during all aspects of their travel.
Please note: It is expected that every traveller must be self-reliant and able to undertake all aspects of their own travel. Please speak to your booking agent about your personal circumstances and any assistance requirements to ensure this tour is right for you.
Please note: If you have any concerns, please consult your healthcare provider prior to purchase/travel.

Sightseeing:
Please note: If entry to a site is affected by changes in operating hours or public holiday closures, your itinerary, where possible, may be adjusted, or a similar activity will be offered in its place (subject to availability).

Shopping:
Shopping overseas can be a daunting and confusing experience, especially when there is a language barrier. Please be very cautious when foreign currencies and prices are involved. If paying by credit card, please pay close attention to the amount you are being charged and keep all your receipts.
Do not make any purchases you are not comfortable with or feel pressured into. If you are uncertain or need assistance with the language barrier, please seek assistance from your Tour Guide/Leader.
Please refer to our Terms and Conditions regarding shopping for further information.

Visas

Malaysia
A 90-day tourist visa will generally be granted upon arrival into Malaysia if travelling on an Australian Passport. Effective December 2023, all foreigners entering Malaysia will be required to complete the "Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)" at least 3 days prior to their arrival. This applies to all travellers, except for those transiting or transferring through Singapore without seeking immigration clearance, Malaysian permanent residents and Malaysian Automated Clearance System (MACS) holders. For more information regarding the MDAC, please visit https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main.

Singapore
Australian passport holders do not require a visa for stays of less than 90 days in Singapore.

Important:
• Please start arranging your visa three weeks before departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.
• Visa rules are subject to change. Please check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination/s you are visiting once you receive your travel documentation to ensure you have the most up to date information.
• It is your responsibility to be travel-ready and ensure that you are aware and comply with any destination or travel requirements, including the validity of all required travel documents.
• Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.
• It is also important to note that some areas of employment, such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations, may have additional restrictions in applying for visas. This may, in turn, affect the type of application required.

Travel insurance

Embarking on your next trip is exciting, and while you hope the unexpected does not happen, it is best to be prepared. We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance when making your booking. Whether it’s a potential medical emergency, a flight cancellation, a delayed suitcase, or an unforeseen event, it's important to ensure you're adequately protected.
