Frequently Asked Questions
Want to know more about Holland America Line
Are gratuities included?

Crew appreciation charges are daily gratuities added to your onboard account to recognise the team members on board. The amount is paid in USD and is based on your stateroom type. The charge is subject to adjustment at your discretion at any time during the cruise.

How do I pay onboard a Holland America Line cruise?

All onboard purchases and services are charged in USD to your account by using your stateroom keycard. Cash is not accepted for individual transactions but can be used in the casino. At the end of your cruise, you will be able to retrieve a final statement from Navigator, and your card will be charged only for the actual amount of your purchases.

Can I bring my own alcohol onboard?

Guests can bring one 750ml bottle of wine or champagne onboard. However, a corkage fee of US$20 will be applied to each bottle.

Wine purchased during company-sponsored shore excursions that visit local wineries is exempt from the onboard corkage fee (offer limited to one bottle of wine per person).

Do I need a passport to take a Holland America Line cruise?

Holland America Line highly recommends that all guests carry a passport valid for at least six months beyond the completion date of your travel. Passports are normally surrendered to and held by the pursers onboard to facilitate clearances in ports of call. It is prudent to photocopy the identification page of your passport and pack it separately in case of loss or damage to the original.

Are Holland America Line cruises family-friendly?

Infants must be at least 6 months of age at the time of embarkation. Children must be at least 12 months of age at the time of embarkation on trans-ocean crossings and on remote itineraries.

Holland America Line has a youth program for guests ages 3 to 17. Each ship is staffed with professional Kids Counsellors who provide fun-filled activities, including crafts, special parties, sports on deck and more. An activity schedule for each age group can be found on the Navigator app once on board.

Children are also welcome in any of the dining venues with a special kids’ menu available at each.

Will the ship have Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is available in all guest areas aboard Holland America Line ships, including in guest staterooms and suites. Packages can be purchased before or during your cruise. Internet access fees vary and are subject to change.

How do I check in for my cruise?

Prepare for your cruise by downloading the Holland America Line Navigator App and by completing the check-in process at our website at hollandamerica.com. During online check-in, you can securely submit your Immigration, Disembarkation and credit card registration forms.
