BrisVegas, here you come!

South Bank, Brisbane

Go to the beach, in the middle of the city

South Bank’s man made beach is simply a must while visiting Brisbane. Escape Brisbane’s warm weather by taking a dip or soak up the rays by the water’s edge. Feeling a little more energised? Take a scenic walk along the Clem Jones promenade. Along this walking track that stretches as far as the South Bank Parklands, see uninterrupted views of the CBD on one side and magnificent fig trees on the other. There are also great user-friendly facilities including BBQs and licensed picnic spots.

To Market To Market

Brisbane has an amazing array of markets, from South Bank to the middle of the city. They are also spread out across the week, so whether you’re visiting on the weekend or mid-week, there will be a market for you to eat, drink and shop at. South Bank has “The Collective Markets” every Friday night from 5pm to Sunday afternoon. This market is a great weekend go-to and specialises in art, fashion and delicious food stalls. Brisbane City Markets is an inner-city shoppers dream running on Wednesday from 8am to 6pm. Make sure you stop in for a vibrant shopping experience or a mouth-watering mid-week lunch.

Arts Scene

One thing most people know about Brisbane is its flourishing arts scene. Visit the thought-provoking Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) or witness a world-class production from Queensland Ballet. There are currently eight Universities within the city limits, all with a strong focus on the arts, so it is really no wonder that artists of all kinds are filling the many funky studios and cultural spaces.

BrisVegas by Night

Brisbane is a bustling city with many lively bars and restaurants. The CBD has a number of esteemed “hatted” restaurants, so if you are looking to really treat yourself while in Brisbane you’re in luck! Reserve a table at Otto or Aria and be prepared for the culinary experience of a lifetime. Feeling a little more laid-back? Brisbane does laid-back best. As a city full of proud craft-beer enthusiasts you can easily find a brewery or chilled out bar to spend your afternoon or evening. Sink a cold one (or two) by the river at Felon’s Brewing Co. located on the Howard Smith Wharves, underneath the impressive Story Bridge.

Stones throw from everywhere

The geographical location of Brisbane means that it is on the doorstep to a number of amazing day-trips and idyllic islands. Experience island life amongst the natural beauty of Moreton Island, witness the endless white sandy beaches of North Stradbroke Island or uncover a piece of Australian history on St Helena Island. Islands aren’t the only thing dangling delightfully on the city’s edge. Wineries are also a big must when visiting the Capital of Queensland. Indulge in a day-trip to Flame Hill Vineyard in Montville or the well-known Sirromet Vineyard in Mount Cotton.
