Your journey begins among the cobblestone streets and ancient ruins of Rome. See the Colosseum, climb the Spanish Steps and toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain during a 3-hour city tour, then explore more with time at leisure. Head to the heart of Tuscany to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa and admire Florence’s renaissance splendour before visiting the fashion capital, Milan. Your tour continues through the narrow streets and canals of Venice, with a walking city tour getting to know its captivating piazzas, magnificent gondoliers and character water craft.

Board MSC Cruises' MSC Splendida at Trieste for a 9-night cruise across the Adriatic and Aegean seas to Athens and Istanbul. The Splendida offers an indulgent setting where you can chill by the pool, watch Broadway-style stage shows or sample the ship’s many enticing restaurants and eateries.

Upon arrival, you'll be met by your English-speaking tour leader and transferred to the hotel.

Overnight: Hotel Colombo or similar, Rome

After breakfast, be met by your local guide for a guided tour of Rome - the 'Eternal City' (approximately 3 hours).

The tour begins at the Trevi Fountain, an iconic spot thanks to the movie ‘La Dolce Vita’, directed by Federico Fellini. Your guide will take you through the streets of the old town, visiting famous sites such as the Pantheon, the Palazzo Madama - the Senate of the Italian Republic and Navona Square, built on the ruins of the Domitian Circus (entrances not included). Once the tour finishes, enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

If you have your sights set on visiting the famous Colosseum, we strongly advise pre-purchasing tickets to avoid excessive queue times. You might also like to visit the incredible Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel (charges apply). Don't miss this chance to be inspired by the murals and immortal Works of Michelangelo. Guests who are interested in visiting the Vatican Museums and the magnificent Sistine Chapel are advised to book tickets online well in advance to secure their place.

Upon arrival, enjoy a walking guided tour in the city centre. Explore one of the architectural gems of Tuscany - Pisa, a city renowned for its iconic landmarks, rich history and vibrant culture. Once a thriving Roman port, sitting on the coast until the 15th century, Pisa now lies on the alluvial plain of the Arno River. Its unique Piazza dei Miracoli (The Square of Miracles) is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to Pisa's iconic Leaning Tower. Beyond the tower, discover the many treasures of this city with unique character, rich cultural heritage, and glimpses of an authentic Italian lifestyle.

After breakfast, continue your Italian journey to Florence in the heart of Tuscany.

Upon arrival, enjoy a guided tour of this incredible city (approximately three hours). The tour takes you through some of the famous sights and attractions of Florence, including the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral and Piazza del Duomo, that together with Piazza San Giovanni, represent the heart of the city. The most important religious monuments of Florence are here, linked by their geometric design and characterised by the typical white, green, and pink marble coating.

See the Baptistery with its octagonal shape and three bronze doors, the Cathedral built in Florentine Gothic style and Giotto’s Bell Tower, regarded as one of the most beautiful towers in Gothic architecture (entrances not included).

The tour continues through Piazza Signoria to the Palazzo Vecchio, the town hall of Florence (entrance not included). Admire the impressive statues surrounding the piazza before continuing to the Straw Market, where the tour will end. Enjoy time at leisure for the rest of the day or alternatively join the optional tours available.

Upon arrival enjoy a guided city tour (approximately three hours). Celebrated as the Italian capital of fashion and design, Milan is a city rich in art, history, and culture. The tour begins from Sforza Castle before walking towards the Duomo (entrances not included). On the way, admire elegant buildings along two of Milan’s iconic streets - the Via Dante and Via Dei Mercanti. Piazza del Duomo is the heart of Milan, and the Duomo - where German influences are softened by the finesse of Italian artists - is one of its most significant Gothic style monuments.

From the Piazza Duomo, the tour continues through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, Italy’s oldest active shopping mall and a major landmark of Milan, before arriving at the Piazza Della Scala, home to one of the most famous theatres in the world, La Scala (entrance not included). Enjoy the afternoon at leisure.

Today, begin your journey to Venice.

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the Tronchetto Pier in Venice to admire the beautiful buildings and canals of Venice by ferry. Upon arrival, be met by a local guide at the Piazza San Marco to start a guided tour of Venice (approximately 2 hours).

The tour starts at the iconic St Mark’s Square, one of the most beautiful squares in the world, and the hub of Venetian life. Around the square, you will see the famous St Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, and the Bell Tower (entrances not included). The church was built to house the body of St. Mark, transported from Alexandria in 828AD. Inside the basilica you can admire glittering Byzantine Mosaics (entrance not included).

The tour continues to Rialto Bridge, one of the most beautiful bridges and an icon of the city. On conclusion of the tour, enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Optional Activity: 30-Minute Gondola Ride (for one or two people) Please Note: Please be advised that gondola rides are not always private and may be shared with other passengers. In the late afternoon, be transferred to Mestre to check in to the hotel, and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.
