TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group. 

Tour Leader
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Vietnam 
In November, the weather across Vietnam varies significantly by region. In the north, including Halong Bay, the climate is generally pleasant and cool, with average temperatures around 24.5°C and the end of the wet season, leading to drier conditions and less humidity. In contrast, Central Vietnam, including Da Nang, is at the peak of its rainy season, experiencing heavy rainfall and potential storms. Despite this, temperatures remain warm, ranging from a low of 25°C to a high of 28°C, with showers often being brief and occurring in the afternoon or evening. Meanwhile, in the south, including Ho Chi Minh City, the rainy season begins to decline, with temperatures remaining hot and humid, typically ranging from 24°C to 31°C, though with a promise of less frequent downpours as the month progresses towards its dry season.

Hong Kong 
Australian passport holders are visa exempt for a stay of up to 90 days. The traveller must hold a passport valid at least six months on entry with two blank visa pages

Vietnam 
Australian passport holders are eligible to apply online for a single entry electronic visa (e-visa), valid for up to a maximum of 90 days.

Lodge your application online (for a non-refundable fee) with the Vietnamese National Web Portal of Immigration https://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/. You will be given a unique code to track your visa application status. Once your visa is granted, you must print it out and present it at check in. Keep this e-visa print out with you at all times during your travel in Vietnam.

Some private online visa services and travel agents have scammed travellers or been involved in the public disclosure of the personal information of applicants for visas and 'visa issued on arrival' approval letters. To avoid such scams, only use official Government of Vietnam services to arrange your visa. Visa and other entry and exit conditions (such as currency, customs and quarantine regulations) change regularly. Contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Vietnam for up-to-date information.

Thailand 
From the 1 May 2025, all Australians will be required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online prior to arrival. Travellers must register online within 3 days prior to arriving in Thailand. They can do so via this link.

Singapore
Australian passport holders are Visa exempt for a stay of up to 90 days. The traveller must hold a passport valid at least six months beyond the period of intended stay with one blank visa page

All Indonesia Arrival Card
As of 1 September 2025 passengers must complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card. This is free of charge and can be completed online within 72 hours of your departure date. This is in addition to the e-VOA and the Bali Tourism Levy.
 
e-VOA
A tourist visa will be issued upon arrival if staying less than 30 days if travelling on an Australian passport. A visa fee of IDR 500,000 (approximately AUD $50, subject to change) and it is best to have this amount in cash upon arrival to ensure smooth entry. To avoid the queues at the airport, you can apply in advance (no later than 48 hours prior to travelling to Indonesia). You can apply for an e-Visa on Arrival (e-VOA). Check the e-VOA requirements from Indonesian Immigration before applying.
 
Bali Tourism Levy
The Bali Provincial Government has introduced a new tourist levy of IDR 150,000 per person to foreign tourists entering Bali. The tourist levy is separate from the e-Visa on Arrival or the Visa on Arrival. Cashless payments can be made online prior to travel or on arrival at designated payment counters at Bali's airport and seaport. Exemption from payment of the levy applies to transit passengers and certain visa holders. See the Bali Provincial Government's official website.
