One of the oldest civilisations in the world, India is a mosaic of multicultural experiences. With a rich heritage and myriad of attractions, it’s a destination that has captured the imagination of travellers from across the world.

Its capital of Delhi is the embodiment of the old and new India. It is not the narrow lanes and houses of old Delhi, nor the wide spaces and rather ostentatious buildings of New Delhi that count, but the spirit of this city. It is a gem with many facets, some bright and some darkened by age, presenting the course of India's life and thought during the ages.

Overnight: Crown Plaza or similar
Meals included: None
Day 3 Delhi City Tour

After breakfast, you will set out for a tour of old and new Delhi by air-conditioned vehicle. You will visit city highlights including the Red Fort, a grand complex featuring palaces and entertainment halls, indoor canals and geometric gardens built in the mid-17th century by Shah Jahān; the colourful shopping bazaar of Chandni Chowk Market; and the presidential palace. You will also visit Raj Ghat (a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi), and Laxmi Narayan Temple, dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and good fortune.

Afterwards, you will visit India Gate, an impressive Arc de Triomphe-like structure that reaches 42-metres high and commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during World War I. The memorial bears the names of more than 13,516 British and Indian soldiers.

Drive past the palace-like Rashtrapati Bhawan - the official residence of the President of India and an interesting blend of Mughal and western architectural styles. You will also visit Bahai Temple, or the 'Lotus Temple', a marvel of modern architecture. Set among pools and gardens, adherents of any faith can visit, pray or meditate.

Overnight: Crown Plaza or similar
Meals included: Breakfast
Day 4 Delhi - Jaipur (approx. 270km)

After breakfast, you will be transferred in an air-conditioned vehicle to Jaipur. The picturesque capital of Rajasthan has long been known as ‘the pink city’. The colour was symbolic of hospitality in Rajput culture, Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur painted the entire city pink.

This beautiful city, along with Agra and Delhi, forms what is known as the Golden Triangle of the Indian tourist circuit. Jaipur is a city where royalty still lives in the grandeur of its palaces, where fighting for the honour of the clan has never been a need but a way of life, and where treating guests as gods has been tradition. There is a timeless appeal to Jaipur and its colourful bazaars where one can shop for Rajasthani handlooms and trinkets. Beautifully laid out gardens and parks, attractive monuments and marvellous heritage hotels, once the residence of Maharajas, is a sight to behold.

Upon arrival in Jaipur you will have the rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight: Hotel Hilton or similar
Meals included: Breakfast;Dinner
Day 5 Jaipur City Tour

Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Jaipur city.

On the morning excursion, you will visit the Amber Palace Fort (pronounced Amer), the old fort of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber, which used to be the capital, until it was moved to Jaipur. The magnificent Amer Fort is an extensive palace complex that has been built with pale yellow and pink sandstone and with white marble. The fort in itself is a beautiful sight to behold but as one looks at the fort with its clear reflection on the lake in the front, one cannot help but wonder if it is a dream or a beautiful illusion.

In the afternoon you will be visiting Hawa Mahal, Jaipur’s most distinctive landmark. Pink-painted, the delicately honeycombed hive rises a dizzying five storeys and was constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh to enable ladies of the royal household to watch the life and processions of the city. Followed by a trip to City Palace, the former royal residence built in a blend of the Rajasthani and Mughal styles.

Adjacent to the City Palace is Jantar Mantar, an observatory begun by Jai Singh II in 1728 that resembles a collection of bizarre giant sculptures. Built for measuring the heavens, the name is derived from the Sanskrit 'yanta mantr', meaning 'instrument of calculation', and in 2010 it was added to India’s list of Unesco World Heritage Sites.

Enjoy an Indian costume tying demonstration and also visit Lakshmi Narayan Temple, the temple displays intricate craftsmanship and people often sit on the floor to observe its beauty.

Overnight: Hotel Hilton or similar
Meals included: Breakfast
Day 6 Jaipur - Abhaneri Caves - Agra (approx. 220km)

After breakfast, you will depart for Agra in an air-conditioned vehicle. On the way, you will visit Chand Baori Stepwell, located opposite a temple known as Harshat Mata Temple. The well was built over a thousand years ago and is one of the largest and most aesthetic step wells in the world. It is believed that the Chand Baori Step Well has a religious connection and that’s the reason it was built in front of the temple.

On arrival to Agra, check into the hotel. Agra is the quintessential Mughal City, where the world marvels at the epitome of love, beauty and sacrifice. The Taj Mahal is India’s most famous and widely recognised building and is considered to be the greatest architectural achievement in the whole range of Indo-Islamic architecture, earning its place as one of the ‘7 Wonders of the World’. The monument is so awe-inspiring that Agra has been immortalised as the City of the Taj.

After you have settled into the hotel, enjoy a tour of the Gurudwara Guru Ka Tal (Sikh temple) in Agra. Here you will have the chance to experience a traditional langar (Sikh community cooking vegetarian food for everyone).

Overnight: Hotel Mariott or similar
Meals included: Breakfast
Day 7 Agra - Taj Majal

The world-famous Taj Mahal is where you will see the undeniable beauty that incorporates and expands on design traditions of Persian and earlier Mughal architecture. While earlier Mughal buildings were primarily constructed of red sandstone, Shah Jahan promoted the use of white marble inlaid with semi-precious stones. The Taj Mahal was commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1631, to be built in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal and is widely known as the monument of eternal love.

Later enjoy a visit to Agra Fort (Red Fort). A fascinating sight, it showcases a high level of ornamentation and the Kohinoor diamond was reportedly part of the furnishings. The fort’s artwork mixes Persian, European and Indian art, resulting in a unique Shahjahani style rich in form, expression and colour. Red Fort is one of the building complexes of India encapsulating a long period of history, arts and its innovative architectural style, including its garden design which influenced later buildings and gardens in Delhi. In 2007, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Red Fort Complex.

Here you can see the art and crafting of the white marble that has made the area so famous, the Pearl Mosque and the Halls of Public and Private Audience. Besides the historical monuments, you can also explore Agra’s rich heritage of handicrafts in its markets.

Overnight: Hotel Mariott or similar
Meals included: Breakfast
Day 8 Agra - Delhi (approx. 240km)

Ever since Nile steamers began calling in the nineteenth century, visitors come to view the remains of Thebes, Ancient Egypt’s New Kingdom capital, and its associated sites. Day 28 Salerno, Amalfi Coast, Italy 7am - 4pm

Much less chaotic than Naples, it is well off most travellers’ itineraries, giving it a pleasant, relaxed air to enjoy during your excursion. Salerno’s town centre is a slightly odd mixture of wide, not overwhelmingly characterful boulevards and a small medieval core full of intriguingly dark corners and alleys. It is, however, a lively, sociable place, with a busy seafront boulevard and plenty of nightlife and shops.

Set in a wide cleft in the cliffs, Amalfi is the largest town and perhaps the highlight of the coast west of Salerno. It was one of the great naval powers; the town was devastated by an earthquake in 1343, but Amalfi still hosts the odd remnant of its past glories today, with a crumbly attractiveness to its whitewashed courtyards and alleys that makes it fun to wander through.

At TripADeal we do not arrange seat selection. It is important to highlight that some Airlines do not allow pre-selected seats. We strongly suggest you contact the Airline directly with seating allocation requirements and or arrive at the airport earlier to arrange your seating. While we do not add frequent flyer member details to bookings, you can do this directly with the Airline once you have your flight information.

Passport Validity:

Customers are required to provide valid passport details either at the time of purchase or no later than 45 days prior to the departure date. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the booking. In this instance, customers will be responsible for any costs and fees incurred.

CRUISE

Disembarkation:

• Begins approximately 2 hours after docking.

• Due to security reasons, all guests must be on board 2 hours before sailing.

• Itineraries are subject to change at any time without notice.

• Check your specific sailing for exact departure and arrival times. All times are local to the port.

Cruise Loyalty Discounts:

Please note: Travellers booked via TripADeal will not be entitled to receive any cruise line customer loyalty discounts. Similar to airline frequent flyer programs, this is outside of the TripADeal booking process. However, customers may contact the cruise line direct upon receiving their TripADeal travel documents to request any membership benefits they are entitled to.

Gratuities / Tipping:

Land

• Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for services of the tour leader (when available) and driver throughout the tour. The recommended tip in India is 300 rupees per person per day and in Italy is 5 to 8 Euro per person per day. This covers the guide/leader and the driver and will be collected whilst on tour.

• Tipping for all services provided on tour is always a matter of personal discretion, however, please be aware that tipping is considered by many locals to be a part of their normal remuneration and they may approach you for payment and there is no need to be intimidated by the request.

Cruise

Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for the services of the cruise staff throughout the cruise component of this tour. MSC is an internationally registered company & operates to US & European standards, both of which have an economy driven by a gratuities culture. Gratuities are expected on your cruise and will be charged to your onboard account at approx 10 Euro per person per day. If you have any questions in regards to the gratuities on your cruise please speak to the guest services staff onboard the ship.

Sightseeing:

Please note: In the event entrance to a site is affected by changes in operating hours or public holiday closures, your itinerary where possible, will be adjusted or similar activity will be offered in its place (subject to availability).

Shopping: (International)

Shopping overseas can be a daunting and confusing experience, especially when there is a language barrier. Please be very cautious when foreign currencies and prices are involved. If paying by credit card, please pay close attention to the amount you are being charged and keep all of your receipts.

Do not make any purchases you are not comfortable with or feel pressured into. If you are uncertain or need assistance with the language barrier, please seek assistance from your Tour Guide/Leader.

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions in regards to shopping for further information.

Visas

India

A Tourist Visa for India is a strict requirement if travelling on an Australian Passport. You will be able to start your Visa application process once you receive your final travel documentation approximately 6 weeks prior to departure. Please start arranging your visa at least 3 weeks prior to departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.

United Arab Emirates and Europe

A visa is not required for Australian passport holders visiting the UAE under 30 days, or for Australian passport holders staying under 90 days in Europe

Europe
A tourist visa for Europe is not required if travelling on an Australian passport.

Important:

Visa rules may have changed since COVID-19. Check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination you're entering.

Please note: Passengers who are not Australian citizens must check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required. It is also important to note, some areas of employment such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations may have additional restrictions in applying for Visas. This may in turn affect the type of application required.

This may be due to non-refundable airline tickets, cancellation penalties with cruise cabins or unrecoverable payments with our land/accommodation partners. TripADeal has committed to these costs as your Agent and will endeavour to recover all funds committed and/or paid for your Travel Offer, but this may not be possible in all circumstances. If refunds are not available from Suppliers, we will endeavour to obtain a travel credit on the best terms available and communicate these outcomes to you. This fee is not revenue-raising and is paid to or withheld by our suppliers when recovering payments.
