Upon arrival, be met by your English-speaking tour leader and transferred to the hotel.

After breakfast, be met by your local guide and enjoy a guided tour of Rome - the 'Eternal City' (approximately 3 hours).

The tour begins at the Trevi Fountain, which has become an iconic spot thanks to the movie ‘La Dolce Vita’, directed by Federico Fellini. The tour will take you to the streets of the old town, visiting famous sites such as the Pantheon, the Palazzo Madama, which houses the Senate of the Italian Republic, and Navona Square, which was built on the ruins of the Domitian Circus (entrances not included). Once the tour finishes, you can enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

If you have your sights set on visiting the famous Colosseum, we strongly advise pre-purchasing tickets to avoid excessive queue times.

Today, you may like to visit the incredible Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel (charges apply). Don't miss a chance to be awe-inspired by the murals & the immortal Works of Michelangelo. If you plan to visit, it is advised to book your tickets online well in advance to secure your spot.

This morning, after breakfast, explore the magnificent archaeological site of Pompeii on a 2-hour guided tour. The ancient Roman city was preserved under volcanic ash by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. It remains practically intact as a testimony to the life of a commercial city of ancient Rome.

Afterwards, continue to the seaside Salerno area, the scenic gateway to the beautiful Amalfi Coast. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Marvel at the island's most iconic sight: the Faraglioni, three dramatic rock formations towering over the Mediterranean coast. On the way to Calabria, stop at the beautiful town of Maratea and enjoy a guided tour of this historic village. It is the only village in the Basilicata region to overlook the Tyrrhenian Sea from the cliff head where it's perched. With dream beaches and sacred art, Maratea is a jewel of extraordinary beauty. A unique seaside destination, with both beaches and caves to explore and photograph. Maratea impresses everyone with itineraries that lead to the discovery of sacred art connected to the presence of churches, chapels, and monasteries scattered throughout its territory.

In the afternoon, continue to the city of Vibo Valentia, home to some of the region’s most famous destinations, including the seaside towns of Tropea and the mesmerising beaches of the Costa Degli Dei (Coast of the Gods). The region was part of Magna Graecia (Ancient Greece) with Greeks living here before the Romans. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Vibo Valentia’s historic sights include an abundance of churches, as well as the Norman castle built on the site of the old Acropolis. The medieval centre is well preserved, with monumental buildings made from yellow volcanic tuff stone.

After breakfast, transfer to Tropea to enjoy a day at leisure in the "jewel in the crown" of Calabria’s Coast of the Gods. Named by the ancient Greeks and legendary for being founded by Hercules, Tropea is an unmissable coastal stop. The charming historic centre perches dramatically on a clifftop overlooking pristine beaches and turquoise waters.

Spend your day swimming, exploring the winding streets, or sampling the region's famous sweet red onions. Don't miss a visit to the iconic, centuries-old Santa Maria dell’Isola Church, which sits majestically on a rocky promontory overlooking the sea.

In the afternoon, return to your hotel and relax at the resort.

After breakfast, continue to the vibrant coastal city of Reggio Calabria, located at the very toe of the Italian boot and separated from Sicily by the Strait of Messina. Enjoy a guided tour of the National Archaeological Museum (entry included) to view the legendary Riace Bronzes. Also known as the Riace Warriors, these two full-size Greek bronze statues of bearded warriors date back to 460–450 BC. Discovered in the nearby sea in 1972, they stand as extraordinary masterpieces of ancient craftsmanship and artistic technique.

Afterwards, enjoy time at leisure, or you can join your tour leader walking the historic centre to see Greek and Roman ruins, the cathedral, the Aragon castle, and numerous examples of Liberty-style architecture for which Reggio is noted (entries not included).

Today, head through sun-baked landscapes to the region of Puglia. On the way, stop at Matera for a guided tour and exploration of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sassi (Italian for “stones”), a labyrinth of cave dwellings, churches, staircases, and arches, hewn out of the solid rock. First occupied in the Palaeolithic Age, the myriad of natural caves were gradually burrowed deeper and expanded into living spaces by peasants and artisans throughout the classical and medieval eras. Today, these underground residences are being re-inhabited by Italians, becoming one of Europe’s most exotic new experiences.

In the late afternoon, arrive in the coastal town of Bari in Puglia, a preeminent city where traditions and intense flavours flourish in their most genuine expression. Bari has a breathtaking waterfront and a quaint old town. A wonderland of art and history, it is impossible not to fall in love.

Today, enjoy free time this morning to further explore this incredible city. Perhaps visit some of the city highlights, such as the 11th-century Basilica of San Nicola, a key pilgrimage site, surrounded by narrow streets. In the afternoon, be transferred to Brindisi cruise terminal to embark on your spectacular Mediterranean voyage!

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide:
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

TripADeal cannot guarantee animal sightings on tour. Wildlife are unpredictable and factors such as weather conditions, predatory fear and animal movements can impact sightings.

Shopping:
Shopping overseas can be a daunting and confusing experience, especially when there is a language barrier. Please be very cautious when foreign currencies and prices are involved. If paying by credit card, please pay close attention to the amount you are being charged and keep all your receipts.
Do not make any purchases you are not comfortable with or feel pressured into. If you are uncertain or need assistance with the language barrier, please seek assistance from your Tour Guide/Leader.

European Union Entry/Exit System (EES)
From October 12, 2025, a new European Entry System (EES) replaced the manual passport-stamping process for non-EU travellers. Upon arrival in the Schengen area, Australian and New Zealand passport holders will have their fingerprints recorded and a photograph taken. Their entry and exit dates will be electronically registered. No previous action is required, but please be aware of longer wait times at border entry. From 10 April 2026, the EES will be fully operational at all external border crossing points of all the European countries (Schengen area) using the system.

European Travel Information & Authorisation System (ETIAS)
As an extension of the EES implementation introduced in 2025, ETIAS travel authorisation is a mandatory entry requirement for visa-exempt nationals travelling to any of these 30 European countries , including Australian and New Zealand citizens, that will be introduced in 2026. We advise you to monitor smartraveller.gov.au closer to your departure to ensure you are up to date on the requirements at the time of entry.

• Please start arranging your visa three weeks before departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.
• Visa rules are subject to change. Please check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination/s you are visiting once you receive your travel documentation to ensure you have the most up to date information.
• It is your responsibility to be travel-ready and ensure that you are aware and comply with any destination or travel requirements, including the validity of all required travel documents.
• Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.
• It is also important to note that some areas of employment, such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations, may have additional restrictions in applying for visas. This may, in turn, affect the type of application required.

Supplier Fees
In the event the tour package you have purchased is unable to proceed, and/or a Travel Supplier is unable to fulfil the tour due to external circumstances (Limitation of Liability e.g. a Force Majeure event), there may be a fee or amount of money that is withheld by our Suppliers and is unrecoverable. This may be due to non-refundable airline tickets, cancellation penalties with cruise cabins or unrecoverable payments with our land/accommodation partners. If refunds are not available from Suppliers, we will endeavour to obtain a travel credit on the best terms available and communicate these outcomes to you. In the event we are unable to obtain a refund or travel service credit, or part thereof, this cost is passed on to the customer as a Supplier Fee.
