Day 3 Rome - Day at Leisure

All roads lead to Rome, and with good reason - this city is one of the world's most thrilling destinations, offering unmatched history along every street.

Today is a free day at leisure to explore the Eternal City at your own pace. An evocative, inspiring, and utterly artistic capital of unrivaled cultural impact, Rome is a city of back-to-back landmarks, which will take you on an exhilarating journey through the ages. This may be one of the world's oldest cities, but it's well and truly lived in. The ruins are punctuated with murmuring cafes, and the outdoor seating of restaurants sprawls out across piazzas, enticing you to sample tangles of fresh pasta and crispy pizzas. Rome's incredible Roman Forum is littered with the ruins of its ancient administrations, which have stood firm for 2,000 years, since the times when the area was the center of the Western world. Few sites are more simultaneously beautiful and haunting than that of the storied Colosseum, which looms deep into Rome's rich blue sky.

The best way to experience Rome is to wander its streets, gelato in hand. There is a lot to see here - whether it's the domed spectacle of the Pantheon, or the elaborate flowing waters and artistry of the Trevi Fountain. Vatican City is an astonishing, colossal display of Catholic grandeur, while the Spanish Steps - crowned by the Trinita dei Monti church - offer a beautiful spot to gather and soak up the lively atmosphere of this humming city. With so much on the to-do list, you'll relish the breaks you take, enjoying simple pleasures, like a strong espresso.

Please note: Entry to some of these landmarks require pre-booking and may incur additional costs.

Overnight: Rose Garden Palace OMNI hotel, Rome, or similar, Rome

Day 4 Rome - Civitavecchia - Embark Silversea's Silver Ray

Day 5 Sorrento

Arrives: 08:00 - Departs: 18:00

Sorrento's colourful, sun-faded facades cascade from green hills and cliffs to the Bay of Naples' gently lapping waters.

The perfect base for exploring this Italian corner of outstanding natural beauty, venture to the curvaceous roads of the Amalfi coast - or enjoy leisurely jaunts across the shimmering waves to Capri's gem of an island. While it makes for a fantastic jumping-off point, Sorrento itself has oodles of rustic fishing town charm, so don't rush off too quickly. Piazza Tasso is the locals' main meeting spot and a starting point for a wander through the picturesque streets. Throw back a quick espresso before strolling through Corso Italia - Sorrento's spine - which is lined with boutiques, museums, bars and restaurants. The historic Church of San Francesco blossoms with colourful celebrations of weddings. Or head down to relax by the small beach and fishing-boat-filled harbours.

Not too far from Sorrento lies Pompeii's archeological site. The looming shape of Mount Vesuvius is unlikely to escape your attention, and this now docile volcano was responsible for a famous tale of destruction when it wiped out the ancient city of Pompeii in a heartbeat. Known for the haunting, frozen casts of the city's unfortunate inhabitants - the massive site is a miraculous snapshot of an ancient Roman city. Wander the stone slabs streets, visit the beautiful theatre and the columns of the sprawling ancient forum - painstakingly recovered and rendered from below the ash.

Please note: Shore excursions are not included, will incur an extra cost, and must be booked and paid for directly to the cruise line.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 6 Cruising

Days at sea are the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and catch up with what you've been meaning to do. So whether that is going to the gym, visiting the spa, dolphin-watching, catching up on your reading, or simply topping up your tan, these blue sea days are the perfect balance to busy days spent exploring shoreside.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 7 Kotor, Montenegro

Arrives: 08:00 - Departs: 18:00

Embedded into the slopes of the steep Lovcen mountain, and overlooking the deep blue Adriatic, the fortified town of Kotor boasts a spectacular, imposing staging that few can match. Squeezing in through the tight Bay of Kotor is a daunting and impressive approach, as you arrive via one of Europe's most stunning waterways. A pearl of Montenegro and the Adriatic, Kotor's warren-like streets drip with history and authenticity. Under Venetian influence for four centuries, the city's UNESCO World Heritage Site old town invites you to wander amid atmospheric stone-clad streets, overlooked by a sea of terracotta roofs and the double towers of the cathedral. Protected by thick stone walls - and the mountains behind - Kotor draws comparisons with another fortified Adriatic wonder in Dubrovnik. Many favour Kotor for its compact layout, smaller crowds, and authenticity.

Learn of the city's extensive heritage on the waves, in the dedicated maritime museum that is contained within Grgurina Palace. If you're up for a challenge, tackle the 1,350 steps up the steep walls to St John's fortress. The views over the bay make the arduous slog worth it, as you rise past the city's eye-catching 15th-century church bell tower.

Please note: For departures on the 28th July 2027, Kotor, Montenegro, will be replaced by a stop in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 8 Split, Croatia

Arrives: 08:00 - Departs: 19:00

Bathing in the Dalmatian Coast's generous sunshine, and overlooking sparkling waters, Split is a city of romantic beauty, built around an extraordinary - still beating - historical heart. The setting may be spectacular, but it's the Diocletian's Palace - a Roman remain of incredible scale and detail, that is truly bewitching.

While immensely historic, Split hasn't been afraid to move with the times, and the stone walls encasing the streets are alive with buzzy bars and quiet nooks. With a natural backdrop of dramatic limestone mountains and Croatia's trademark scenic wonders all around, Split is a true heavyweight of the Adriatic.

Head first to the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, where a hollow bell tower rockets up, puncturing the sky. The expansive seafront promenade is all palm trees, buzzing bars and eateries. Further out you'll find the peace of Marion Hill - where you can climb to some of the best views in town. Or, take the far less exerting wander to Sustipan cemetery's breathtaking panorama of sea, city and distant islands.

Trips to island paradises like Hvar and Brac are tempting, as are longer excursions to sites like Krka National Park's Waterfalls - where wide terraces of frothing water thunder into cooling, swimmable splash pools below. Nearby Trogir is another UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a cozier, no less charming old town, and historic port.

Please note: For departures on the 28th July 2027, Split, Croatia will be replaced with Hvar, Croatia.

Please note: Shore excursions are not included, will incur an extra cost, and must be booked and paid for directly to the cruise line.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 9 Zadar

Arrives: 08:00 - Departs: 18:00

Croatia's Zadar is a dazzling mesh of influences and creativity. Romans founded the city before the Venetians, Austrians, French and Italians all had their say, leaving a wealth of architectural interest. Glorious turquoise-water beaches and heavenly waterfalls also lie within easy reach of this energetic city of festivals and outdoor fun. See the old town, with its robust city walls, boasting decorative stone gateways and marble streets.

The church of St Donatus was built from stones pillaged from the Roman forum, while Zadar Cathedral - Dalmatia's biggest - stands among the many architectural treats of this city, which was once an impenetrable stronghold of Venice's republic. Head for the 'pillar of shame' with its chains to humiliate the criminals of a bygone time - or succumb to the tempting treats of shopping in the market. The sparkling Adriatic waters call you, and Kolovare Beach is a mere ten-minute wander from the old town. A day trip to Kornat National Park - which incorporates the Zadar Archipelago's immaculate scattering of beach-fringed islands - or to the divine waterfalls of Plitvice Lakes National Park, will introduce you to more of Croatia's thrilling natural beauty.

The sea truly does sing here in Zadar, thanks to a unique waterfront artwork, which encapsulates the city's playful spirit. Designed to make music when the waves wash over it, the ebb and flow of the Adriatic plays the Sea Organ instrument like a maestro. Not far away, the Monument to the Sun is a 22-metre-wide disc, which gathers the sun's rays during sunny days and releases solar energy in the form of a magical light show after dark. Sit and admire the artwork coming to life, as one of the city's famous sunsets plays out before you.

Please note: For departures on the 28th July 2027, Zadar, Croatia will be replaced with Split, Croatia.

Please note: Shore excursions are not included, will incur an extra cost, and must be booked and paid for directly to the cruise line.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 10 Koper, Slovenia

Arrives: 09:00 - Departs: 19:00

With a sweeping old town of Venetian architecture, sing-song Italian emanating from its cafes, and even a fountain that honors the Rialto Bridge - you could be forgiven for thinking that you’d stepped off the boat into the Floating City itself while exploring Koper.

Formerly an island, Koper was linked artificially to the Slovenian mainland in 1825. It now serves as the only major port of Slovenia and basks in the sun of the Istrian coast, which offers an alluring blend of the best of Croatian, Slovenian and Italian.

A working city, with plenty of charm below its sea of terracotta roofs, the picturesque Tito square lies at Koper’s heart. The Cathedral of Assumption - with its narrow bell tower dating back to 1664 - when the city was a regional capital of Venice’s republic - rises above the square, and towers over the narrow streets nearby. Take a deep breath and climb the 200 steps for a stunning panorama of the city. You could also soak up the atmosphere with a wander through Cevljarska Ulica – a set of cobbled streets adorned with artisan shops, small bars, and restaurants.

The nation’s capital, Ljubljana, also lies within easy reach, where you will discover a lively city of green parks and pedestrianised boulevards. The pretty Ljubljana River stretches through the city’s heart, providing casual strolls and charming bike rides. Nearby, encounter a scene from a fairy-tale, as you see the breathlessly picturesque Bled Castle emerging from a tiny island in the center of a cloudy-blue, alpine lake.

Please note: Shore excursions are not included, will incur an extra cost, and must be booked and paid for directly to the cruise line.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 12 Venice - Day at Leisure

Losing none of its allure over the years, this floating city of canals, bridges and masks is a place of eternal beauty and enduring elegance. The lagoon of more than 100 islands is a heavenly sight, transporting visitors on a journey through time - from its Roman inception, through centuries of trade to the modern face we see today. Navigate Venice's sparkling waterways by romantic gondola, or on cruises along wide canal boulevards.

Span the Grand Canal over its iconic original crossing, the Rialto Bridge, which - with its parade of tiny shops - gives some of the city's most endearing views. If the crowds unsettle you at any point, take two turns away from the main thoroughfares to find peace alone, amid the city's labyrinth of tiny streets. Hurry to Piazza San Marco to be immersed in Venice's elegant glory. Basilica San Marco transports you back to the wealthy days of the Doges, who ruled for over 1,000 years. Initially, their private chapel, it's now decorated with beautiful Byzantine mosaics. Nearby the Campanile di San Marco bell tower offers views over the higgledy-piggledy rooftops of times gone by. Just a hop skip and a jump around the corner is the Doge's Palace, where the levels of opulence ramp up even further.

Vaporetto (water bus/taxi) trips to local islands offer even more adventures to float your boat, whether it's Murano with its world-famous glass, Torcello with its amazing Cathedrals, or Burano with its handmade lace and delightfully colourful painted houses.

Day 8 Piran, Slovenia

Arrives: 08:00 - Departs: 17:30

Slovenia only offers 46 km of coastline, but within that small distance lives some of the Adriatic's finest treasures, and one of such places is Piran.

Just over 120 km from Ljubljana you'll find the small town, perched on a rocky peninsula and surrounded by pristine waters. Oozing Mediterranean charm, Piran's rich Venetian heritage is everywhere - the city was governed by the Republic of Venice from 1283 to 1797 (and until the mid-20th century, Italian was the dominant language, although this has been overtaken by Slovenian in recent years).

Wander into the labyrinthine streets of the old town - think narrow streets and compact houses topped with the picture-perfect terracotta tiles so typical of the region - and take a few hours just drinking in the atmosphere. Pop into one of the little Catholic churches or hike up to St George's on the top of the hill, for an example of grandiose Venetian Renaissance architecture.

Alternatively, head for the seaside walk - which incidentally serves as a beach for many - for a taste of everyday local life.

Day 11 Cruising

Days at sea are the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and catch up with what you've been meaning to do. So whether that is going to the gym, visiting the spa, dolphin-watching, catching up on your reading, or simply topping up your tan, these blue sea days are the perfect balance to busy days spent exploring shoreside.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 12 Agropoli, Italy

Arrives: 08:00 - Departs: 22:30

At the entrance to the undulating Cilento Coast, Agropoli’s historic old town perches above a lively port. The town, which began as a Greek outpost before evolving under Byzantine, Norman and Aragonese rule, lies near the UNESCO-listed Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park.

Nestled on the Gulf of Salerno, just south of the Amalfi Coast, the Cilento coastline is less crowded but just as dreamy as its famous neighbour, with an array of golden beaches and hidden coves. Dramatic sunsets dip into the waters, painting reds and golds across the evening's waves. The gentle incline of Corso Garibaldi leads you up towards the original historic gate, opening into 'Il Borgo' - a maze of sun-faded facades and cobbled alleyways, bursting with flowers. A tangle of narrow streets reveals lemon-painted churches and opens to tucked-away piazzas. Narrow staircases lead up to the Aragonese Castle, originally founded in the 6th century. The fortified walls offer sweeping views over Agropoli, whose name comes from the Greek Akropolis - meaning 'high city'.

The ruins of Paestum - home to a trio of remarkably well-preserved Greek temples with towering classical columns - are all close by.

Please note: Shore excursions are not included, will incur an extra cost, and must be booked and paid for directly with the cruise line.

Overnight: Silversea's Silver Ray

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 13 Sorrento

Please note: Shore excursions are not included, will incur an extra cost, and must be booked and paid for directly with the cruise line.

Day 15 Rome - Day at Leisure

Other important information

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide:
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
Italy
In July and August, Italy experiences its peak summer heat with predominantly sunny skies and high humidity, particularly in the northern and central inland regions. In Milan, expect average highs around 29°C to 31°C, though humidity can make it feel much more oppressive and occasionally trigger evening thunderstorms. Venice is slightly more temperate due to the lagoon but remains humid, with average highs of 27°C to 28°C. Rome is significantly hotter, with average highs of 30°C to 32°C, and it is not uncommon for heatwaves to push temperatures above 35°C. Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast enjoy average highs of approximately 29°C to 30°C, where the heat is often tempered by refreshing Mediterranean sea breezes, though the sun remains very intense

Coastal towns like Budva and Kotor typically see average highs between 27°C and 30°C, though peak daytime temperatures frequently exceed 30°C. The capital, Podgorica, is one of the hottest cities in Europe during these months, with average highs of 31°C to 33°C and regular heatwaves pushing temperatures well above 35°C. On the island of Hvar, which is famously the sunniest spot in the country, you’ll find similar highs of 30°C, often accompanied by a pleasant 'Maestral' (or Mistral) sea breeze that makes the heat more manageable. Zadar, located slightly further north, remains very warm with averages around 28°C to 30°C, though it can be a touch more prone to sudden, brief summer thunderstorms than the southern coast. Across all these locations, the Adriatic Sea is at its most inviting, with water temperatures hovering around a perfect 24°C to 26°C.

Slovenia
In July and August, Koper enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate that is slightly milder than the southern Adriatic coast. Average daytime highs typically range between 27°C and 29°C, though peak heatwaves can occasionally push temperatures toward 35°C. Supplier Fees
In the event the tour package you have purchased is unable to proceed, and/or a Travel Supplier is unable to fulfil the tour due to external circumstances (Limitation of Liability e.g. a Force Majeure event), there may be a fee or amount of money that is withheld by our Suppliers and is unrecoverable. This may be due to non-refundable airline tickets, cancellation penalties with cruise cabins or unrecoverable payments with our land/accommodation partners. If refunds are not available from Suppliers, we will endeavour to obtain a travel credit on the best terms available and communicate these outcomes to you. In the event we are unable to obtain a refund or travel service credit, or part thereof, this cost is passed on to the customer as a Supplier Fee.
