Day 2 Eden, New South Wales

Arrives: 09:00
Departs 18:00

Known for the migrating whales that cruise through its waters between May and November, Eden sits in New South Wales's scenic Twofold Bay. While the whales are now protected and cherished here, the town was initially founded as a whaling centre and has many fascinating stories to tell. Namely, a unique symbiotic relationship with killer whales. Rewarded with the tongues of freshly caught whales, orcas would help to round up baleen whales in the bay, making it easy for humans to land them. This mutually beneficial exchange came to be known as "The Law of the Tongue". Find out more about it, and the area's whaling past, at Eden Killer Whale Museum.

Head to Ben Boyd National Park for bird watching and to see the arches of soaring rock formations rising beside fire-red cliffs. View the glorious coastal scenery of frothing aqua-seas and rugged headlands, from the viewing deck on top of Boyd's Tower. Initially devised as a lighthouse, it would later be used as a lookout to spot whales breaching the bay's waters. Travel to the verdant promontory of Green Cape Lighthouse. Jutting out into the South Pacific Ocean, the pearly-white lighthouse caps crumbling cliffs and offers sweeping views of the jagged cliffs and wave-thrashed rocks. The wrecks that lie offshore attest to the respect these sometimes-punishing waves demand.

Day 8 Cruising

Overnight: Seabourn's 'Seabourn Quest'

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 9 Cruising Fiordland National Park, New Zealand

Located on the southwest corner of the South Island, New Zealand’s Fiordland National Park is the largest of the country’s 14 national parks.

The park was founded in 1952 to protect the natural environment for nature lovers and trekkers. It comprises a large portion of Te Wahipounamu UNESCO World Heritage Site. The key features of the park are the mountain ranges of the Southern Alps which rise to heights over 2,500 metres.

There are three major fjords that are navigable by larger ships including Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound and Dusky Sound. Your captain will determine your exact itinerary depending on the weather and other conditions on the day. But whatever course you sail, you'll be treated to spectacular waterways curving between sheer cliffs towering thousands of feet above the mirrored surface of the fjord. Depending on recent rainfall, waterfalls tumble down the rock faces from above. Many of the peaks have nicknames based on their resemblance to animals or other objects of previous observers’ imaginations. You are also likely to see seals, Fiordland penguins, bottlenose dolphins and more.

Please note: Scenic cruising timing is subject to weather conditions.

Overnight: Seabourn's 'Seabourn Quest'

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 10 Oban, Stewart Island, New Zealand

Tender Arrives: 08:00
Tender Departs: 18:00

Stewart Island overflows with opportunities to get up close to New Zealand’s untouched landscapes, rich Māori heritage and unique birdlife. Lush forests, rare flora and fauna, golden beaches and rugged coastlines provide a diverse ecosystem oasis for nature enthusiasts.

Oban serves as the gateway to Rakiura National Park where visitors can embark on bird-watching expeditions and scenic walks. It also holds a significant place in New Zealand's history, reflecting both Māori and European influences. Visitors can explore the local museums to delve into the island's past, gaining insights into the Māori heritage and the European settlers who once called Stewart Island home.

Stewart Island is a must-visit for wildlife lovers and bird watchers, offering opportunities to witness a variety of bird species, including the iconic kiwi bird. The island's coastal waters are also frequented by seals, sea lions and dolphins.

Please note: This port is accessed by tender boats. Boarding and disembarking tender boats may involve steps and uneven surfaces. While cruise lines strive to provide ease of access, accessibility options can vary at different tender ports. Passengers with mobility concerns are encouraged to inquire about specific arrangements and consider their individual needs when participating in tendering activities.

Day 11 Dunedin (Port Chalmers), New Zealand

Arrives: 07:00
Departs: 17:00

Heading the Otago Harbour, Dunedin is a cosmopolitan city of cultural and architectural splendour with a distinctly tartan flare. Settled by the Scots in 1848, the romantically misty valleys and moody landscapes continue to capture the hearts of visitors to these distant shores. Searing bagpipes echo down the streets of the Edinburgh of the South, which wears its Scottish origins proudly. Gothic revival architecture is scattered liberally, including the magnificent university and the city's grand cathedral.

The railway station is perhaps the pick of this city's many artistic structures. Its glowing gardens and pretty mosaics add extra detail to the elegant, gingerbread building. It's also the perfect jumping-off point for romantic rail adventures along the coastline. Museums in the city tell of Chinese influences, as well as the stories of early Māori settlers.

The melodramatic coastline of the Otago Peninsula boasts dramatic cliffs and sea-sprayed beaches, as well as an abundance of animals. Explore cliffs laced with tunnels and hidden walkways, potentially getting you up close with yellow-eyed penguins. Sea lions and seals also sprawl out on windswept beaches, drifting in and out of indulgent dozes.

Overnight: Seabourn's 'Seabourn Quest'

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 12 Christchurch (Lyttelton), New Zealand

Arrives: 08:00
Departs: 17:00

Christchurch has an unmistakable English flavour, serving as the gateway to southern New Zealand's natural wonders.

The rebuild of the country's oldest city continues, following the earthquakes that devastated it in 2011. The South Island's biggest city is now blossoming, having evolved into a confident and cultural powerhouse. Colourful street art adds an edge to the city while new bars and restaurants contribute to the sense of revitalisation and renewal. Visit museums and take tours to learn more about the reconstruction, which has made incredible progress in recent years.

Surrounded by extinct volcanoes, soaring lakes and the rolling farmlands of the Canterbury Plains, spectacular scenery sprawls around the city. Pay a visit to the Southern Alps' snow-covered peaks, the stunning hot pools of Hanmer Springs or Hector's dolphins who swim at Akaroa.

As a city that's faced immense challenges over the last decade, it's hard not to feel inspired by Christchurch's defiant character and friendly locals who share an open and welcoming outlook that shines stronger than ever.

Overnight: Seabourn's 'Seabourn Quest'

Known as a creative hub of the South Pacific, there are shows to see, art installations to enjoy and rich flavours to savour here. Various museums cover everything from Māori traditions to earthquake simulations and even the real-life Kraken, a displayed colossal squid. The smell of a fresh artisan espresso is never far away so stop in at countless cool cafes to top up your caffeine levels.

The sounds of rare and beautiful birdlife fill the hills around the city, while the green belt bush provides an easy-to-access sanctuary for strolls and cycle rides. The Botanical Gardens break up the buildings and the iconic red cable car rumbles up Wellington's slope to the city's best viewpoint.

Other important information

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

Adventure (and spontaneity) create some of the best travel memories. Bear in mind, your home schedules and timings might not be adhered to on tour - it's all part of the fun!

A relaxed level of fitness will be required. Expect a comfortable pace of touring with a focus on leisure time and gentle activity. This may include city tours, the ability to walk up and down small flights of stairs and gentle slopes. You will be responsible for your own luggage and have the ability to board all modes of transport without assistance.

Please note:
• Some areas may be inaccessible to wheelchairs or mobility scooters, with personal walking sticks and other aids required should they be needed. Although some assistance may be available, every traveller should be self-reliant during all aspects of their travel.
• It is expected that every traveller must be self-reliant and able to undertake all aspects of their own travel. Please speak to your booking agent about your personal circumstances and any assistance requirements to ensure this tour is right for you.
• If you have any concerns, please consult your healthcare provider prior to purchase/travel.

Yellow Fever
A valid international certificate of vaccination against Yellow Fever is required in many countries. You may need to present this on arrival at the airport or border crossing. Some countries will refuse entry if you are unable to present your certificate. It's also common for your home country to request a Yellow Fever certificate upon arrival. You must check with your doctor well before leaving home about the Yellow Fever requirements for the countries you'll be visiting.

Sightseeing
Please note: If entry to a site is affected by changes in operating hours or public holiday closures, your itinerary, where possible, may be adjusted, or a similar activity will be offered in its place (subject to availability).

Shopping
Shopping overseas can be a daunting and confusing experience, especially when there is a language barrier. Please be very cautious when foreign currencies and prices are involved. If paying by credit card, please pay close attention to the amount you are being charged and keep all your receipts. Do not make any purchases you are not comfortable with or feel pressured into. If you are uncertain or need assistance with the language barrier, please seek assistance from your Tour Guide/Leader. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions regarding shopping for further information.

Visas

New Zealand
Mandatory Traveller Declaration
All travellers to New Zealand are required to complete a traveller declaration 24 hours prior to arrival in New Zealand. The traveller declaration can be completed here. Australian passport holders are visa-exempt for an unlimited stay. The traveller must hold a valid passport on arrival.

Important:
• Please start arranging your visa three weeks before departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.
• Visa rules are subject to change. Please check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination/s you are visiting once you receive your travel documentation to ensure you have the most up to date information.
• It is your responsibility to be travel-ready and ensure that you are aware and comply with any destination or travel requirements, including the validity of all required travel documents.
• Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.
• It is also important to note that some areas of employment, such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations, may have additional restrictions in applying for visas. This may, in turn, affect the type of application required.

Travel insurance

Embarking on your next trip is exciting, and while you hope the unexpected does not happen, it is best to be prepared. We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance when making your booking. Whether it’s a potential medical emergency, a flight cancellation, a delayed suitcase, or an unforeseen event, it's important to ensure you're adequately protected.
