Day 2 Buenos Aires - City Tour & Tango Show

This morning, after breakfast, embark on a city tour of Buenos Aires and discover the charm and magic of this vibrant metropolis. Begin at Plaza de Mayo, a key site in Argentina's political history, surrounded by iconic buildings. Here, you'll learn about the area's significance before heading to San Telmo, one of the city's oldest neighbourhoods, known for its cobblestone streets, antique shops and picturesque architecture. Next, explore the colourful neighbourhood of La Boca, famous for its tango culture and vibrant Caminito Street. You’ll also visit important landmarks such as La Casa Rosada (the Presidential Palace, known as The Pink House), the Cabildo (the colonial town hall), and the Neoclassical Metropolitan Cathedral, where Argentina’s founding father, Jose de San Martín, is laid to rest. Finally, admire the celebrated Recoleta Cemetery, a true labyrinth of ornate mausoleums. Stop at Eva "Evita" Peron’s grave, one of the country’s most recognisable icons.

After the city tour, return to your hotel and enjoy the afternoon at leisure.

In the evening, you will be picked up from the hotel and transferred to Café de los Angelitos for a three-course dinner and tango show. The show has explored the history of tango from the 1920s to Piazzolla, with a touch of modernity. A 360-degree experience with a dynamic and energetic show that surrounds the audience in a very special atmosphere. It consists of an orchestra made up of five musicians (violin, piano, double bass, and two bandoneons), two singers (one woman and one man), and six pairs of dancers.

Day 7 Ushuaia, Argentina

Arrive: 10:00 - Depart: 21:00

No city on the planet has a more southerly latitude. As a result, the sun shines for 18 hours during summer, providing ample opportunity to view the mix of glaciers, forests and sea, all framed by Mount Martial to the west and Mounts Olivia and Cinco Hermanos to the east. There’s a magnificent wealth of history and culture to discover in Ushuaia. The town was formerly a missionary base, penal colony, and naval base but has increasingly become a significant tourist destination with many attractions, including restaurants, sightseeing, and casinos. You could explore Tierra del Fuego National Park on a day hike through the wilderness or along the coast and glacial lakes. The End of the World Museum offers a beautiful glimpse into the history and culture that shaped this city and includes collections of artefacts and pieces from the first expeditions and the indigenous people who once inhabited the region. Savour authentic Argentinian specialties with the freshest seafood, like king crab, seabass, ceviche, grilled octopus, or the ever-popular, slow-cooked Fuegian lamb, and delicious regional wines.

Please note: This port is accessed by tender boats. Boarding and disembarking tender boats may involve steps and uneven surfaces. While cruise lines strive to provide easy access, accessibility options vary at different tender ports. Passengers with mobility concerns are encouraged to ask about specific arrangements and consider their needs when participating in tendering activities.

Day 8 Cape Horn, Chile (Scenic Cruising)

Tierra del Fuego, Land of Fire, is the most isolated place in the Americas, and Cape Horn is its southernmost point. These craggy cliffs and windswept shores are stark, rugged beauty personified, creating a dramatic setting for the collision between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Please note: You will not be docking in Antarctica, you'll be cruising through and not leaving the ship.

Overnight: Celebrity Cruises Celebrity Equinox

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 9 Gerlache Strait - Paradise Bay - Schollart Channel, Antarctica (Scenic Cruising)

Gerlache Strait, Antarctica:
Several geographical anomalies around this channel make these waters among the most plankton-rich in the world. You'll likely see a profusion of whales feeding in the rich ecosystem, a sight you'll remember.

Paradise Bay, Antarctica:
This name aptly reflects the stunning beauty you'll find here, just as the clear waters beautifully reflect the spectacular mountains, such as Rojas Peak, Bryde Peak, and the Petzval Glacier. Within these waters, we may see Minke whales feeding and Gentoo penguins curiously observing us from the rocky shores.

Schollart Channel, Antarctica:
Journey to the far reaches of the world with a Schollart Channel cruise. Experience the spectacular wildlife that inhabits the great white South Pole and breathe in the exhilarating air. With Anvers Island to the southwest and Brabant Island to the northeast, take in the mesmerising sights of massive ice flows, humpback whales, waddling penguins, leopard seals and more in their natural and somewhat extreme element. You will surely leave with unforgettable memories and pictures as you cruise through the Schollart Channel near Antarctica.

Please note: You will not be docking in Antarctica, you'll be cruising through and not leaving the ship.

Overnight: Celebrity Cruises Celebrity Equinox

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 10 Elephant Island (Scenic Cruising)

This tiny island in the Weddell Sea of Antarctica plays a role in one of seafaring history's most legendary exploits. When the brave crew of the Endurance, led by intrepid explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, was trapped in the ice during a 1914 polar expedition, they took refuge on this island until help arrived. And, even though they spent the entire winter waiting for rescue, not a single crew member was lost.

Located in the Southern Ocean near the outer reaches of the South Shetland Islands, Elephant Island has claims from not only Argentina and Chile, but also the United Kingdom. Brazil also has two shelters here that contain up to six researchers that work during the summer months.

Check out the island's wildlife on your Antarctica cruise. The island is covered with elephant seals, hence the name Elephant Island. At Cape Lookout, a bluff on the southern coast where various penguins (chinstrap, gentoo, and macaroni) call home. Other birds of note include sheathbills, cape petrels, and stormy petrels; it's also a great place to spot the elephant seals and Antarctic fur seals. The truly adventurous can explore the moss colonies, which are thought to be thousands of years old. The moss bank is not terribly far from where the Shackleton party was marooned, and is considered one of the oldest living things in the world. Your cruise to Antarctica will truly be an experience of a lifetime.

Please note: You will not be docking in Antarctica, you'll be cruising through and not leaving the ship.

Commune with the roughly 2,000 intrepid souls who call this remote former whaling outpost home. As you search through the rocky, windswept landscape, you may observe a few of the island’s flightless residents—including Magellanic penguins burrowing underground and rockhoppers carefully observing you from outcroppings.

Please note: This port is accessed by tender boats. Boarding and disembarking tender boats may involve steps and uneven surfaces. While cruise lines strive to provide ease of access, accessibility options can vary at different tender ports. Passengers with mobility concerns are encouraged to inquire about specific arrangements and consider their individual needs when participating in tendering activities.

Other important information

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide:
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

February remains warm, with average temperatures slightly lower, ranging between 19°C and 29°C, while humidity stays elevated. All meal requests are subject to airline approval and are not guaranteed, therefore we recommend preparing for your flight by bringing appropriate food for yourself, as required.

Visas

Argentina
On an Australian passport, you can stay for up to 90 days without a visa, but you'll need evidence that you intend to depart the country within the 90 days, for example:
• a return or onward ticket
• a valid passport
• travel/medical insurance
Officials may also ask for proof of accommodation and evidence that you have enough money or a credit card to cover your trip.
Please Note: Effective immediately, all international travellers to Argentina must hold valid travel insurance with medical coverage.
This insurance may be requested and verified upon arrival in the country.
Argentina’s public healthcare system will no longer provide free medical services to foreign nationals. It is therefore essential that you obtain appropriate insurance before your departure.

Uruguay
Australian passport holders are visa exempt for a stay of up to 90 days. The traveller must hold a passport valid at least 6 months beyond the period of intended stay with one blank visa page.

Chile
As of 17th September 2025 tourist visas for Chile are not required if travelling on an Australian Passport. You can stay in Chile for up to 90 days without a visa. If you're unsure whether you need a visa, contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Chile.

New Zealand (Transiting)
If you do not hold an Australian passport you may be required to obtain a transit visa. Some flight routes make a stop in New Zealand and you may be required to obtain a transit visa to board your flight. It is the passengers' sole responsibility to seek advice on the correct visa and take appropriate action to ensure they have the correct visa prior to departure. Failure to do so may result in denied boarding and or refusal of entry to the country by the local authorities and immigration department. We strongly advise you to carefully review your flight tickets and then contact your respective consulate or a visa agency to confirm the necessary visa regulations and acceptable forms of personal identification for your transit.

Important:
• Please start arranging your visa three weeks before departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.
• Visa rules are subject to change. Please check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination/s you are visiting once you receive your travel documentation to ensure you have the most up to date information.
• It is your responsibility to be travel-ready and ensure that you are aware and comply with any destination or travel requirements, including the validity of all required travel documents.
• Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.
• It is also important to note that some areas of employment, such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations, may have additional restrictions in applying for visas. This may, in turn, affect the type of application required.

Travel insurance

Embarking on your next trip is exciting, and while you hope the unexpected does not happen, it is best to be prepared. We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance when making your booking. Whether it’s a potential medical emergency, a flight cancellation, a delayed suitcase, or an unforeseen event, it's important to ensure you're adequately protected.
