The Itinerary

Day 1: Australia - Cape Town, South Africa (In-Flight Meals)
Today depart from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or *Perth to Cape Town. Fly with award winning airlines such as Etihad Airways, South African Airways, Singapore Airlines or Virgin Australia to name a few (subject to availability).

Day 2: Welcome to Cape Town (No Meals)
On arrival you will be met by a representative and transferred to your accommodation.
Check in is from 2:00pm, however storage will be available for luggage at reception so you may explore this eclectic city until your room is ready. The hotel is just a short walk to the famous V&A Waterfront with lots of shops and restaurants.

Day 3: Cape Town, Full Day Peninsula Tour (B)
After breakfast, enjoy an awe-inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point, which encompasses magnificent beaches, breathtaking views, and picturesque coastal villages. The Cape Peninsula is one of the world’s most scenic areas and stretches from the City Centre to Cape Point. In Simon’s Town you will stop to visit the penguins and to have lunch (not included). On the way back you will also visit the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. Note: The drive via Chapman’s Peak is subject to the road being open. Ou Kaapse Weg will be used as an alternative route when necessary.

Day 4: Cape Town, Full Day Cape Winelands Tour (B)
This delightful drive winds its way to the heart of the Cape Winelands, through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. You will of course be able to do a couple of wine tastings too. You will most probably stop for lunch in Franschhoek (lunch is not included).

Day 5: Cape Town, Day at Leisure (B)
Today, enjoy a day at leisure. Cape Town has a lot to offer! Stroll around town, shop at the waterfront, visit the Aquarium, or take a trip out to Robben Island (not included) where Nelson Mandela was kept for 17 out of his 27 years in prison.

Day 6: Cape Town - Matjiesfontein (B,L,D)
This morning you will be picked up around 9.30am and transferred to Cape Town Train Station to check in for your luxury rail journey on board The Pride of Africa. The train departs platform 23 at 11:00am and travels inland through the beautiful winelands. At 1:00pm lunch is served followed by tea in the lounge at 4.30pm. Around 6:00pm the train will stop in the historical village of Matjiesfontein where you are free to explore until it’s time to get changed for dinner at 7.30pm.

The Rovos Rail company operates two restored classic trains each with 20 renovated original coaches; some from before the 1920s! Each train accommodates a maximum of 72 passengers in fine style and ultimate luxury. All the trains feature traditional authentic furnishings and classic decor with classic wooden paneling a feature throughout. Elegance and grandeur are evident throughout all the coaches and are matched by exceptional service and cuisine.

Day 7: Matjiesfontein - Kimberley (B,L,D)
Breakfast is served between 7:00am to 10:00am. Lunch at 1:00pm. At around 2.30pm you will arrive in Kimberly where you will board a bus for a tour of renowned city, the Diamond Mine Museum and the extraordinary Big Hole. Tea at 4.30pm as the train departs Kimberly. At 7.30pm dinner is served.

Day 8: Kimberley - Krugersdorp - Johannesburg - Pretoria - Ivory Tree Lodge, Pilanesberg Game Reserve (B,D)
Today you will travel Via Krugersdorp and Johannesburg through the goldfields of the Witwatersrand towards Pretoria. The train will arrive at Pretoria’s Capital Park Station at approximately mid-day. Disembark the train and be met on arrival where you will be transferred to your 5 Star boutique safari lodge in Pilanesberg Game Reserve (Approx 2.5 hours). Arrive in the afternoon and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Pilanesberg Game Reserve is the crater of a long extinct volcano is the setting of Ivory Tree Game Lodge in Pilanesberg Game Reserve – a fascinating alkaline complex produced by volcanic eruptions some 1300 million years ago. Pilanesberg Game Reserve is one of the largest volcanic complexes of its kind in the world. It’s rare rock types and structure make it a unique geological feature.

The park exists within the transition zone between the dry Kalahari and wetter Lowveld vegetation, commonly referred to as “Bushveld”. Unlike any other large park, unique overlaps of mammals, birds and vegetation occur because of this transition zone.

Day 9: Ivory Tree Lodge, Pilanesberg Game Reserve (B,L,D)
Begin your day with an early morning game drive through the reserve. Game drives are conducted in comfortable, open 4X4 Land Rovers accompanied by professional English speaking field rangers and trackers ensuring an informative and detailed safari experience. Keep your eyes and cameras ready for the ‘BIG 5’. Return to the lodge in the mid-morning for breakfast and a little R&R before heading out again to spot more wildlife on an evening safari. Afterwards, wind down your evening with a few sundowners before dinner.

After breakfast, check out of your accommodation and transfer to Johannesburg airport for your international flight to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe (Please confirm your free airport shuttle transfer with the hotel the night before).

On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport you will be met and transferred to your accommodation.
Cresta Sprayview Hotel is situated just 1.4 km from the Victoria Falls Rainforest entrance. It is the perfect gateway for adventure seekers exploring the resort town of Victoria Falls and its surrounds. In months when the Falls are in full flood, the spray from this majestic wonder of nature rises like a column of smoke, locally referred to as"Mosi-oa-Tunya", the "Smoke that Thunders" and can be seen from the Hotel, hence the name "Sprayview" from which the Hotel derives its name. The Cresta Sprayview Hotel is ideally situated, in walking distance of the town of Victoria Falls, with its accompanying restaurants and curio markets a short 10 minute walk to the falls themselves.

Day 14: Victoria Falls Tour (B)
This morning you will be collected around 8:00am and transferred to the Falls.
The Victoria Falls – Now in its 150 Millionth fantastic. It’s a truly awe-inspiring experience – the sight, the sound, the smell; the humbling feeling that here indeed is Nature’s Supreme Masterpiece. No photograph can begin to depict the reality…and nothing prepares you for your first sight.

This tour is conducted in the morning and afternoon. En-route, clients may be taken past the ‘Big Tree’ where they may stop and take photos. Clients will be accompanied through the Rainforest by one of our qualified guides who will give a brief history of the Falls themselves as well as detailing the flora, fauna, bird & wildlife and other points of interest. Guides are also happy to assist clients with photographs whilst visiting this most spectacular of waterfalls. Raincoats are provided when needed.

      - General make-up of the train locomotive, generator car, staff car, guest sleepers, a non-smoking lounge car (26 guests), two non-smoking 42-seat dining cars (if required, plenty of space for the maximum of 72 guests carried), kitchen car, guest sleepers, smoking lounge and observation car (32 guests) at the tail.
      - Cuisine: Meals are served in one sitting only in the charming Victorian atmosphere of the dining cars and are complemented by a selection of fine South African wines. There’s an accent on fresh local ingredients and traditional dishes such as game are a specialty. Breakfast is between 7:00am and 10:00am, lunch at 1:00pm, tea at 4:00pm and a formal dinner at 07:30pm. A gong heralds lunch and dinner.
      - Dress for days on the train: Dress is smart casual. Evening attire is more formal - a jacket and tie is a minimum requirement for gentlemen, while cocktail/evening dresses or suits are suggested for ladies. Pack warm clothing for cold mornings and evenings.
      - Mobile devices and internet: In maintaining the spirit of travel of a bygone era, there are no radios or television sets on board. The use of mobile phones, laptops and essentially anything that has the ability to disturb other passengers is confined to the privacy of your suites.
