Overview

Go where adventurers and explorers of yesterday only dreamed of - cross the Antarctic Circle and into polar regions on a voyage that combines luxury with adventure.

At latitude 66° 32′ S, sail into the Antarctic Circle, a place where few travel packages can take you. These back-to-back Swan Hellenic cruises will do that and more, allowing you to explore remote Patagonia, the breathtaking Chilean Fjords, culturally rich Santiago de Chile and exquisite Buenos Aires.

Start with three nights in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a city full of love for tango and soccer, rich in culture and proudly unique. Then fly to Ushuaia, the most southern city in the world, and the gateway to the Antarctic, to start your journey south.

The ‘SH Vega’ will be your home away from home. This 5-star boutique ship, designed with Scandinavian elegance, offers an intimate immersion in splendour. With just 120-140 crew members and 152-196 guests spread across 9 decks, a personal experience awaits. The generous public spaces ensure uninterrupted, panoramic views, keeping the destination ever-present. Following a workout in the state-of-the-art gym, luxuriate in the sauna or jacuzzi while relishing the breathtaking scenery. In the Swan Restaurant, savour breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring international and locally-inspired cuisine. Deck 7 reveals a heated outdoor pool and inviting poolside seating for scenic indulgence. Unwind in the Observation Lounge or socialise in The Club Lounge, combining 24-hour tapas-style dining with sweeping ocean vistas.

Board Swan Hellenic’s “SH Vega” ship, and get ready to cross the Drake Passage and sail along the Antarctic Peninsula, going further south. The crossing itself is often celebrated on board with a special ceremony, where passengers and crew alike gather to commemorate the momentous event. You will visit locations few people have set foot in, including Jenny Island, Bongrain Point, the Lemaire Channel, Brown Station, Neko Harbour, Deception Island, Whalers Bay, Half Moon Island and more. Prepare to see incredible frozen landscapes from a Zodiac expedition, or from the warmth of the ship’s heated outdoor pool, seeking penguins, orcas, whales, seals, marine birds and other Antarctic wildlife.

Back from the Antarctic adventure, gear towards Patagonia and the Chilean Fjords on a cruise into natural rugged beauty and remote wilderness. In this region, the domain of the mighty Andean condor, you will see Angostura Kirke, a picturesque channel surrounded by towering mountains and lush forests. Another highlight will be the enormous Pio XI Glacier. Covering an area of approximately 1,265 square kilometres, it stretches for about 64 kilometres from its source in the Patagonian Andes to the sea. Perhaps a more subtle but also long-lasting memory will be the small Chilean villages and towns you will discover along the cruise: the people of Puerto Natales, Tortel and Castro will be as much of a highlight as the incredible landscapes they live in.

End your trip with two nights in Chile’s capital, Santiago, a place where Spanish and local cultures are mixed into one of the most understated but successful societies in South America.

With return international full-service flights, one flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia in Argentina, 24 nights on Antarctica & Chilean Fjords Swan Hellenic cruises, three 5-star hotel nights in Buenos Aires & two 5-star hotel nights in Santiago, plus 76 meals, including all meals while cruising, this is a travel experience like no other.

When travelling to Chile, you'll get a tourist card (paper) on arrival. You must keep the card and present it to immigration officials when departing Chile. You can request a new copy online if your tourist card is lost or stolen. Entry and exit conditions can change at short notice. Contact the Embassy or Consulate of Chile for details about visas, currency, customs and quarantine rules.

Important:
• Please start arranging your visa three weeks before departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.
• Visa rules may have changed since Covid-19. Some countries and airlines may require you to obtain an additional visa before arrival. Please check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination you're entering.
Please note:
• Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.
• It is also important to note that some areas of employment, such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations, may have additional restrictions in applying for visas. This may, in turn, affect the type of application required.
