Afterwards visit Scenic Rock Garden, considered one of the most important elements of Japanese art. Rocks, sand, and gravel are essential features of the Japanese garden. Large rocks often represent mountains and hills, and flat rocks may represent the earth. Smaller rocks can line ponds and streams, and in rock gardens, raked sand or gravel can symbolize beaches, lakes, or flowing rivers. Last visit and Shinjuku Kabukicho, the world’s famous entertainment district best known for nightlife.

Today is a fun day, visiting the countryside of Japan on a trip of approximately 300 kilometers to see how locals live. First visit Shirakawa-go. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995, it’s famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old. Afterwards, visit Takayama Old Town and walk along Sannomachi Street, which survives in a particularly pretty state with many old homes, shops, and restaurants. Takayama was once a bustling hub drawing expert artisans, farmers and merchants from throughout the surrounding area, and Sanmachi, as well as Oshinmachi, preserve the traditional aesthetic of this time. Enter this district, and you step into the closest thing to the Edo period outside of a historical drama. Finish the day in Kanazawa where you will check into your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.
Kanazawa remains an important city in its region and serves as the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture. The city boasts many historical attractions such as restored residences and districts, as well as modern museums. But Kanazawa's unchallenged main attraction is Kenrokuen, one of Japan's "three best landscape gardens" and by many considered the most beautiful of them all.

This morning, start a 260-kilometre trip to Kyoto, but first, visit Kenrokuen, justifiably classified as one of Japan's "most beautiful landscape gardens". Opened to the public in 1871, Kenrokuen features a variety of flowering trees which provide the garden with a different look for each season. Kanazawa is home to 99% of all gold leaf made in Japan and today you will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience attending a Gold Leaf Craft workshop and will see the gold leaf process and decorate your own items. Afterwards, proceed to Kyoto and enjoy the remainder of the day at your own pace.
Kyoto (京都, Kyōto) served as Japan's capital and the emperor's residence from 794 until 1868. Over the centuries, Kyoto was destroyed by many wars and fires, but due to its exceptional historic value, the city was dropped from the list of target cities for the atomic bomb and escaped destruction during World War II. Countless temples, shrines and other historically priceless structures survive in the city today.

Today you will get to see Japan’s 'most beautiful village', built right on the water. The village of Ine is like nowhere else in the world - the village is built on the waters of Ine Bay, one of UNESCO’s World’s Most Beautiful Bays, and the 230 “funaya” (boat houses) that line the bay trace their origins back to the Edo period. Funaya, the boat houses, are unique buildings, standing along the Ine Bay coastline. The first floor of Funaya is used as a boat garage and workspace for fishermen. The second floor is used as a living space.
Afterwards, visit Chionji Temple, located at the southern entrance to the Amanohashidate sandbar and is dedicated to Monju, the bodhisattva of wisdom. Legend says that Monju was summoned to the area by the primordial Shinto deity Ame no Oshihomimi to quell a mischievous dragon. The temple is believed to have been established in the early ninth century. Although exact construction dates for the main hall are unknown, some building materials have been dated to the Kamakura period (1185–1333). The temple’s principal object of worship is a statue of Monju riding atop a lion (shishi) and its style suggests it is also from the Kamakura period.

This morning, head to Nara Park to spot more than a thousand deer, which are considered the messengers of the gods. These deer have become a symbol of the city and have been designated national treasure status. Deer crackers are for sale around the park, and you'll find that some deer have learned to bow to visitors to ask to be fed.
You'll then visit the Todaiji Temple, one of Japan's most famous and historically significant temples and a landmark of Nara. The temple was constructed in 752 as the head temple of all provincial Buddhist temples in Japan. Finish the day in the Aichi Region.

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER

Tour Guide: 

Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group. 

Tour Leader: 

An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined. 

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured. 

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES

Japan has four distinct seasons with a climate ranging from subarctic in the north to subtropical in the south. Conditions are different between the Pacific side and the Sea of Japan side. Northern Japan has warm summers and very cold winters with heavy snow on the Sea of Japan side and in mountainous areas.

Eastern Japan has hot and humid summers and cold winters with very heavy snow on the Sea of Japan side and in mountainous areas. Western Japan has very hot and humid summers (with temperatures sometimes reaching 35°C or above) and moderate cold winters. Okinawa and Amami have a subtropical oceanic climate. These areas have hot and humid summers (with temperatures rarely reaching 35°C or above) and mild winters.

We do not arrange seat selection. It is essential to highlight that some airlines do not allow pre-selected seats. We strongly suggest you contact the airline directly with seating allocation requirements and/or arrive at the airport earlier to arrange your seating. While we do not add frequent flyer member details to bookings, you can do this directly with the airline once you have your flight information.

Passport Validity:

Customers must provide valid passport details either at the time of purchase or no later than 45 days before the departure date. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of the booking. Customers will be responsible for any costs and fees incurred in this instance.

For meals not included, the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. It is your responsibility to notify us of any dietary requests/requirements. Luggage:

You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on tour. You must carry your own luggage from the vehicle to the hotel room and back to the vehicle. The driver will assist with the uploading and unloading of bags from the vehicle.

This includes booking changes requested by you, including but not limited to those changes requiring an airline ticket or a Purchase Confirmation reissue.

Supplier Fees

In the event the tour package you have purchased is unable to proceed, and/or a travel Supplier is unable to fulfil the tour due to external circumstances (Limitation of Liability e.g. a Force Majeure event), there may be a fee or amount of money that is withheld by our Suppliers and is unrecoverable. This may be due to non-refundable airline tickets, cancellation penalties with cruise cabins or unrecoverable payments with our land/accommodation partners. If refunds are not available from Suppliers, we will endeavour to obtain a travel credit on the best terms available and communicate these outcomes to you. In the event we are unable to obtain a refund or travel service credit, or part thereof, this cost is passed on to the customer as a Supplier Fee.
