Although there are multiple places in the northern hemisphere that experience this perpetual sunlight during half of the year, Antarctica is the only southern location where it can be seen.

Argentina

Argentina, December is the beginning of summer in the Southern Hemisphere. The climate in Buenos Aires during December can be summarised as follows:

Average High Temperature: 28°C to 32°C

United States of America

Australian passport holders must obtain an “ESTA” visa waiver in order to enter or transit in the United States.

Please note: You may be required to obtain a visa if you do not meet the eligibility requirements of the ESTA program. Please see https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov for full eligibility requirements and applications.

Brazil:

Beginning April 10, 2025, travellers holding passports from Australia, Canada, or the United States of America will require an eVisa to enter Brazil. For travellers entering Brazil before April 10th, 2025, a visa is not needed.

Chile:

Australian and New Zealand passport holders visiting Chile for tourism purposes or transit between 8 to 72 hours must apply for a single or multiple tourist visa. Visas must be lodged through the SAC CIUDADANOS portal only: https://tramites.minrel.gov.cl/

Important:

• Please start arranging your visa three weeks before departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.

• Visa rules may have changed since Covid-19. Some countries and airlines may require you to obtain an additional visa before arrival. Please check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination you're entering.

Please note:

• Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.

• It is also important to note that some areas of employment, such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations, may have additional restrictions in applying for visas. This may, in turn, affect the type of application required.
