The area is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and unique geological features such as its impressive red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests. Here we will enjoy some sightseeing and photostops that will allow you to take in the majestic beauty of this unique landscape. Day 5 Flagstaff - Grand Canyon - Grand Canyon Railway

This morning drive to the iconic Grand Canyon, a superb geological phenomenon and one of the seven wonders of the world which will most certainly be one of the highlights of your trip. The Grand Canyon is the result of millions of years of wind and water erosion with an endless expanse of shapes and colours with its layered bands of red rock revealing millions of years of geological history. The Colorado River flows over a mile below the canyon rim. Here you will enjoy the opportunity to walk along the South Rim and make use of the complimentary park shuttles to various viewpoints so you can see one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring wonders in the world. In the afternoon, you will embark on a scenic train journey aboard the Grand Canyon Railway.

Since 1901, the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel has been taking passengers on a fabled journey to the heart of one of the seven wonders of the world. Grand Canyon Railway is more than just a mode of transportation: it’s a trip back in time on lovingly restored rail cars with entertaining musicians and the antics of cowboy characters. Out your window, the terrain changes from high desert to prairie, prairie to pine. It’s a view that’s ever-changing until you come across a view so brilliant, it could very well change you.

This afternoon arrive in the town of Williams and continue back to Flagstaff for an evening at leisure.

Todays driving distance and time is approx 200km / 2.5hr (not including rail trip)

Day 6 Flagstaff – Horseshoe Bend - Page

Today depart Flagstaff and travel onwards to Page. Along the way, stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post, where you can shop for Native American goods. Next we venture out on an easy 2.4km (roundtrip) hike to Horseshoe Bend: a geologic masterpiece sculpted by the Colorado River. Horseshoe Bend is an example of what happens when water takes the path of least resistance. At Horseshoe Bend, an unstoppable force met an immovable object, namely, a sandstone escarpment. Since this rock formation wasn’t going to budge anytime soon, the river did the most logical thing it could: it went around it. The result is the 270° bend in the river you see before you and a very impressive photo opportunity. Upon arrival in Page check into the accommodation and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Todays driving distance and time is approx 210km / 2.15hr

Overnight: Best Western View of Lake Powell or similar

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 7 Page - Antelope Canyon - Monument Valley

Start the day with a visit to Antelope Canyon. Gently carved from the Navajo sandstone over the course of countless millennia, the slot canyons are majestic and narrow passages, with just enough space for a small group to walk the sandy floor - and for the occasional shafts of sunlight to shine down from above. Here you will enjoy a guided walk with a Navajo guide to learn more about the history and significance of this amazing formation.

Next, travel to Monument Valley, where you will find yourself surrounded by dark red hills where numerous westerns have been filmed. This wide desert plain overflows with gigantic sandstone monolithic structures rising high above the valley. Here you will enjoy a jeep tour through the valley with a local Navajo guide before returning to Page for another evening at leisure.

Please note: the visit to Antelope Canyon may require the group to be split into 2 smaller groups and may be conducted on Day 6 or 8 of the tour depending on availability.

Todays driving distance and time is approx 400km / 4hr

Overnight: Best Western View of Lake Powell or similar

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 8 Page – Bryce Canyon – Kanab, Utah

A beautiful drive lies ahead this morning, crossing the plains to Bryce Canyon, one of the most fascinating natural parks of Utah, filled with vertical rock pillars of orange sandstone, affectionately known as “hoodoos.” Standing along the rim at Bryce, the hoodoos descend down into a natural amphitheatre to create a spectacle of rock that looks almost otherworldly. Here you will have time to explore one of the park's endless trails on your own. It’s a breathtaking sight to gaze over the towering hoodoos on this stretch of unique Utah landscape.

Afterward continue onwards to Kanab, often referred to as ‘Little Hollywood’ due to its history as a filming location for western movies and television series such as Daniel Boone, Gunsmoke, and The Lone Ranger. Upon arrival check into your accommodation and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Todays driving distance and time is approx 400km / 4hr

Overnight: Quality Inn Kanab or similar

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 9 Kanab – Zion National Park – Las Vegas

Today leave Kanab for the oldest park in Utah, Zion Canyon with its cathedral-shaped rocks, many of which are more than 3,000 feet high. Gaze up at massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soar into a brilliant blue sky. There is also a great diversity of plant and animal life due to the park’s unique geography. Explore the park on your own using the complimentary park shuttle. The shuttle service will take you from the visitor’s centre to the various trails and vista points in the park so you can choose your own adventure. This afternoon depart Zion and transfer back to Las Vegas for one more night at leisure.

Other important information

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER

Tour Guide:

Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:

An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.
