Today you'll visit the iconic Angkor Wat on a guided tour. You'll visit the ancient Angkor Thom city, founded in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII which remained the capital until the 17th century. You'll then have the chance to see the gates of Angkor Thom city before continuing to the peaceful smiling face towers of Bayon Temple. You can imagine the feeling the first explorers must have felt as they discovered these temples among the wild, umbrella-like branches and other creeping vegetation. Stroll around the must-see jungle temple of Ta Prhom, overgrown by monstrous trees with snake-like roots and a familiar site featured in the 2013 film 'Tomb Raider'. After a morning of exploring Angkor Thom city, you will head to the famed site of Angkor Wat which is the largest Hindu temple in the world. Here you can marvel at the 1,200 square metres of intricate carvings in the temple walls depicting eight Hindu stories.

Today you'll bid farewell to Siem Reap as you make your way to the cruise transfer pick-up point, enjoying a journey through remote Cambodian villages to Kampong Cham. Here, you'll embark on the 'Mekong Serenity' river ship, your home for the next seven nights.
Following lunch on board, you'll jump in a tuk-tuk and explore the island of Koh Pen. Travelling through shaded lanes, keep an eye out for wooden stilted houses tucked among palm and sandalwood trees. You can also see a varying range of crops growing depending on the season, this may include tobacco, betel nuts, watermelons, coconuts and many more tropical fruits.
Afterwards, a Vietnamese welcome dinner awaits to showcase the diverse flavours from the region.

Take a walking discovery of Angkor Ban, one of the few villages in Cambodia that was not destroyed under the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. Here, people still live in their traditional wooden abodes and keep ancient cultural traditions alive.
Afterwards, your ship glides along the lush banks of the Mekong to Oknha Tey which is renowned for its silk weaving traditions that have been preserved for centuries. Afterwards, you'll return to your river ship where you can relax and unwind before a delicious meal onboard.

In Phnom Penh, you'll discover Oudong which is a place of pilgrimage for Cambodians. While here, you’ll be treated to a Buddhist Blessing Ceremony at a monastery, an APT Signature Experience. On the way back to your ship, take a leisurely stroll through the village of Koh Chen and perhaps visit some home workshops that make copperware. The afternoon is then yours to explore Phnom Penh as you wish before being treated to a special Khmer folk performance.

Today you'll experience Cambodia’s sobering history with a moving excursion to the infamous Killing Fields. Afterwards, you'll visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum which is located on the site of the Khmer Rouge’s notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21).
Alternatively, you can discover Phnom Penh on a tuk-tuk ride past the city’s namesake of Wat Phnom before stopping to haggle for a bargain at the Central Market. History buffs can embark on a visit to the National Museum while the active can hop on a leisurely bike ride through the quiet back roads.
After lunch back on board, more choices are presented as you can explore the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda before partaking in some retail therapy on a shopping expedition or indulging in a high tea experience as you enjoy panoramic views over Phnom Penh.

Today you'll depart Phnom Penh for a morning at leisure as your cruise continues along the Mekong. In the afternoon, perhaps take in a fruit-carving demonstration by one of the ship’s chefs while border formalities are carried out as you cross into Vietnam. Upon entering the country, your ship will continue cruising towards Tan Chau.

This morning you'll transfer to a small boat for a journey along the tiny tributaries that snake around the riverside town of Tan Chau. Cruise past a floating fish farm before stepping ashore for a rickshaw tour of Tan Chau. Onboard the rickshaw, you’ll glide past shops, rice wine rooms and friendly locals who are always eager to say hello. Stop to pay a visit to a local silk and rattan weaving workshop before stepping back in time during a visit to an evergreen island where you’ll experience authentic rural Mekong life.
The remainder of today is left free for you to relax onboard your river ship where you can take a leisurely moment to watch local life glide by.

Today you'll cruise towards the quaint town of Sa Dec, it was here where French writer Marguerite Duras met her Vietnamese-Chinese lover, Huynh Thuy Le. On arrival, you'll tour Huynh Thuy Le’s old house and learn the story behind Marguerite Duras’ best-selling novel, The Lover. Later, you'll visit a traditional Cao Dai temple where you can watch visitors and pilgrims come and go while appreciating the beauty of the building.
This afternoon, continue to Cai Be and step ashore to visit the French Gothic cathedral and the colourful port area that's filled with crumbling colonial buildings and flowering gardens. Afterwards, you’ll visit a rice paper manufacturer and learn about how this Vietnamese staple is made.

Optional Activity: Half-Day Cu Chi Tunnels Tour ($90 per person)
Cu Chi Tunnels are located approximately 70 kilometres northwest of Ho Chi Minh City centre in Cu Chi Rural District. The area consists of more than 200 kilometres of underground tunnels with the main axis system connecting to underground hideouts, shelters and entrances to other tunnels. This underground network provided sleeping quarters, meeting rooms, hospitals and other social rooms. You will crawl under the tunnels and be guided through the tunnel system including the weapon factory, hospitals and kitchen. After that, you'll have the chance to try delicious manioc which was the main food for guerillas in Cu Chi during the war. This tour includes return transfers from your hotel.
