Once home to the world’s most powerful and civilized empires, Athens is now the world’s foremost archaeological playground. The towering columns of the Parthenon still stand in homage to the virgin goddess Athena. The Parthenon sits atop the Athenian Acropolis and watches over the city where it can be seen from just about anywhere in Athens.
This morning, after breakfast, you will be met by your guide and commence a tour of the city, viewing all major sites including the Acropolis & the new Acropolis museum. On the tour you will have the opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city.
You will visit the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896. Afterwards you’ll pass by the Prime Minister’s residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Evzones in their colourful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).
Today, accordingly with your flight time, you will be transferred to the airport for the return flight home.
