Exmouth lies some 780 miles north of Perth on the rugged and stunningly beautiful Northwest Cape. This remote corner has been of strategic importance since the days of the Second World War. In fact, Exmouth was built in 1964 to support the Harold E. Holt Communications Station. Nearly 45 years later, the base remains a top-secret installation. Australians, however, discovered the Cape’s strategic importance as a travel destination. Here rugged mountains and stony gorges descend to stunning beaches. Ningaloo, Australia’s longest fringing reef, lies just offshore.

Nestled in the remote Kimberley Coast area, the Kuri Bay coastline is highlighted by magnificent red rock escarpments and a peaceful turquoise bay. You will see this beautiful destination up close when you step ashore to visit a working pearl farm in its contemporary form and learn techniques of pearling in the Kimberley.

Located in the middle of Doubtful Bay, in the heart of Worrora country, lies Raft Point, an impressive rock headland and renowned site of indigenous rock art. Enjoy unforgettable sweeping coastal views over neighbouring Steep Island and look for Boab trees on the beach, easily recognised by the swollen base of its trunk and bottle-like appearance. The trunk base may be very large with some trees recorded with bases five metres in diameter.

This is one to cross off your bucket list. Yampi Sound and the magnificent Buccaneer Archipelago between King Sound and Collier Bay are jam-packed with natural wonders that will astound you. See beautiful clear blue waters and stunning Kimberley landscapes. Rich fish life including white-bellied sea eagles, brahminy kites, ospreys, common sandpipers and eastern reef egrets are an attraction for bottlenose dolphins that come to feed in the early mornings.

From its romantic pearling history to the cosmopolitan character of Chinatown, its incredibly clear waters, to its red sandstone cliffs and endless white sand beaches, the colours of Broome are sure to leave a lasting impression.

The capital of the Batavia Coast was founded in 1850 as a commercial port serving the Northampton lead mine some 30 miles to the north. While Geraldton remains one of Western Australia’s major ports, the city has become a magnet for travellers. Located between the Chapman and Greenough Rivers, Geraldton boasts a superb Mediterranean climate, scenic beauty and pristine beaches. Coronation Beach has become a mecca for windsurfers.
