Itinerary - 1

Welcome to Tasmania! Upon arrival please make your own way to the tour hotel. Enjoy the company of your Travel Director and fellow travellers this evening at a Welcome Reception.

Overnight: Hobart Hotel

Your Tasmanian holiday begins with some free time at Salamanca Market, Tasmania's most visited tourist attraction and one of the largest outdoor markets in all of Australia. This iconic Saturday tradition brings Hobart's waterfront alive with a celebration of the senses. In a vibrant atmosphere of cultural commerce, over 300 stallholders line the street from sunrise where locally crafted products.

Enjoy a complimentary afternoon tour of Hobart and you’ll see historic Battery Point, the Botanic Gardens, Constitution Dock, the destination of yachts participating in the Sydney to Hobart race each year, and Mt. Nelson, which affords panoramic views over Australia’s southernmost city. At the end of your tour for those who would like to see the famous Cascade Brewery Bar we will drop you off en route to the hotel. Evening at your own leisure.

Overnight: Hobart Hotel

Travel north along the scenic Great Eastern Drive, passing through the coastal towns of Orford and Swansea before arriving Freycinet National Park and its jewel, Wineglass bay. First visit a local Oyster Farm where you can taste oysters straight out of the ocean and have your own lunch (not included).

Home to a wild domain of sublime beaches, whose powder-white sands are lapped by translucent waters. For those seeking a challenge, try the climb to the summit of Mt Amos or just join the walk to Wineglass Bay, voted one of the world’s top 10 beaches.

Next, head to a wildlife sanctuary for a chance to see some of Tasmania’s native wildlife up close including the famous Tasmanian Devils (they’re not as fiendish as they sound!)

Afterwards, head back to Bicheno for the night. This evening you might like to take an optional experience to see Bicheno’s wild penguins as they emerge from the ocean (not included - price: $50 per person subject to seasonality and minimum number)

Overnight: Bicheno Hotel

The highlights keep coming today with a morning visit to the Bay of Fires Conservation Area. Enjoy a stroll around the aptly named Gardens close to Binalong Bay, checking out some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Australia. Deep red rocks and aquamarine waters, this is a stunning place which we can leisurely explore for a few hours. Afterwards drive to Launceston and stop at Launceston Cataract Gorge & First Basin,

Launceston's own piece of wilderness just 15 minutes walk from the city centre. Here you'll find walking and hiking trails, the world's longest single span chairlift, swimming pool, restaurant, kiosk, cafe peacocks and wildlife, beautiful gardens, suspension bridge, inclinator for easy access, Interpretation Centre and panoramic lookouts with spectacular views.

Overnight: Launceston Hotel

Depart from Launceston this morning and head to the magnificent wilderness of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. The mountain at 1545m high, is one of the park’s iconic features and is surrounded by stands of native deciduous beech, rainforest, alpine heath lands and button grass. Icy streams cascade down the mountainsides and ancient pines are reflected in the still glacial lakes.

Explore the park along a number of different guided or self-guided walking tracks. For those who prefer to travel at a leisurely pace, consider taking a trip to Waldheim Chalet or wandering along the Dove Lake circuit. For those with a little more grit, or people who simply love views of gorgeous lakes with rugged mountain backdrops, the hike to Marion’s Lookout is perfect. Afterwards, return to Launceston for the night.

Overnight: Launceston Hotel

The fun is not over! Yesterday was all about nature, and today is all about indulgence. We will make our way to Launceston through the Tamar Valley to check out the region's famous wineries (1 tasting included) and local producers along with some general sightseeing along the way.
