6 Day South West WA Wildflowers

  • See the best of WA from Perth to Esperance
  • Visit Lucky Bay, Margaret River, Albany & more
Includes 1-way flight, meals, guide & accom.

Western Australia is beautiful at any time of year, but during the wildflower season is when it really comes to life. Vast expanses of forest, farmland and coastal heathland are transformed in a dazzling rainbow of pinks, purples, reds, yellows and so many colours in between. Beginning in June, the blooming season gradually makes its way from north to south, finishing with gusto in the great south west in October and November. This six day tour is designed to take full advantage of that.

Departing from Perth, you’ll travel down the coast to the famous holiday towns of Busselton and Dunsborough, sip and savour your way through the Margaret River wine region, stroll beneath the towering canopy of the Valley of the Giants near Walpole, and witness the beautiful beaches and granite outcrops of William Bay National Park. In Esperance, the beautiful wildflowers of Cape Le Grand and sunbathing roos of Lucky Bay are just two of the many wonders that await. Sound like fun? This sensational tour also includes a one-way flight from Esperance to Perth, five nights quality accommodation, local guide and national park fees, and all-inclusive meals.

Want to see more? An optional half day wildlife cruise of Recherche Archipelago is available on tour.

The adventure begins with you journey south today. The first stop will be the popular beachside town of Busselton. It’s hard to miss the town’s 19th-century jetty, which stretches 1.8km into the turquoise waters of Geographe Bay. Here you can have a coffee on the waterfront, stroll along the white sandy beach and chat about what exciting things are to come. A little way down the road stop at the breathtaking Meelup Beach where you'll enjoy a picnic lunch.

Saying goodbye to paradise, it’s time to tantalise your taste buds with an afternoon tasting around the Margaret River region. Visit boutique wineries, breweries, a gin distillery, chocolate factory and a cheese factory, sampling as you go. To burn off some of that local produce, take a short walk along the iconic Cape to Cape Track and spot some wildflowers. Come late afternoon, check into your accommodation in the popular tourist hotspot of Dunsborough, loved for its sparkling water and white sandy beach. Kick back and relax while your guide prepares a poolside BBQ dinner.

Please note: as Day 1 is an early start, it is advisable to arrive in Perth at least one day prior. Pick up is from the Perth Bus Station in Wellington Street at 6.45am, however depending which hotel you are staying at a CBD hotel pick-up may be available between 7.00 - 7.30am.This will be confirmed by the tour operator after purchase.

Overnight: Dunsborough Motel, Dunsborough or similar
Meals included: Lunch;Dinner

After a continental breakfast this morning, meet Wardandi custodian Josh, who will introduce you to the world’s oldest living culture with his authentic and personal interpretation. Go deep down into the Ngilgi Cave for a memorable underground didgeridoo performance. Swing by the tiny town of Yallingup to check out some of the world’s best waves, before arriving into Margaret River’s township.

Nestled between vineyards and towering Karri forests, Margaret River is renowned for premium wine and produce, surfing, art and nature. You’ll have some free time here to explore the eclectic mix of shops and galleries. No visit to Margaret River is complete without getting up close and personal to the actual river, so you’ll meander along the bank to get another perspective of its beauty.

After a bite for lunch, you’ll travel to see historic Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. The tallest lighthouse on the mainland. And the nearby historic waterwheel. If you are lucky, you might even be able to spot some whales. Next, travel into the pristine wilderness of Walpole, home of the Valley of the Giants. Here you’ll be having dinner and spending the night.

Overnight: Coalmine Beach, Walpole or similar
Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch;Dinner

After breakfast, you will connect with nature at the internationally-recognised Valley of the Giants, which places you 40 metres high into the canopy of Western Australia’s majestic tingle trees. Found nowhere else on earth, walking among these beauties is a tranquil and uplifting experience. We’ll spend some time here doing the Ancient Empire Walk and Treetop Canopy Walk.

Next, from the forest to the ocean, it’s onto William Bay National Park where you will be amazed by the paradise that is Greens Pool. Then it’s onto yet another laid back, and beautiful township called Denmark, where you’ll have a picnic lunch on the banks of the river. Cruise along a glorious stretch of coastline to Albany, seeing how years of natural erosion have crafted incredible rock sculptures and granite bluffs – the Natural Bridge and The Gap are two of our favourites. Have some time to have a look around the historical township before fish and chips on the beach for dinner.

Overnight: Dog Rock Motel, Albany or similar
Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch;Dinner

Just a short drive from Albany brings us to the Porongurups. This unique mountain range rises from the landscape like an island. You’ll be setting out on a two-hour hike through some spectacular forests to Castle Rock. It’s a bit of a climb but worth every bit of effort as you are rewarded with jaw-dropping views over the region.

It’s then back on the bus to get ready for some of Australia’s most spectacular scenery. Driving through the Stirling Ranges, a wildflower hotspot, this part of Western Australia has no less than nine National Parks and some of the world’s best beaches. You’ll be spending some time at Twilight Beach before continuing onto Esperance. Here you’ll have some free time to explore the township before dinner.

Overnight: The Jetty Resort, Esperance or similar
Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch;Dinner

Cape Le Grand is one of Western Australia’s best-known and most spectacular National Parks and is just a one-hour drive from Esperance. Pristine and perfect are two words that reflect its absolute beauty. The ocean here is practically transparent, and the sand at Lucky Bay has twice been judged Australia’s whitest. You’ve seen the pictures of the kangaroos on the beach, and this is where you’ll find them. This park is so beautiful that we will be spending the whole day here, exploring, swimming, wildflower spotting, and bushwalking. If you’re a keen hiker, climbing Frenchman Peak is a must. Head back to Esperance for dinner.

Overnight: The Jetty Resort, Esperance or similar
Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch;Dinner

On the last morning of the tour, it’s highly recommended that you join the incredible optional extra half-day Scenic Wildlife Island Cruise (not included). Experience stunning beauty of the Esperance region from the crystal clear waters of the Recherche Archipelago. Spot a plethora of wildlife including New Zealand Fur Seals, Australian Sea Lions, Dolphins, Sea Eagles and whales (season dependent). Cruise around spectacular bays and coves before heading out to see approximately eight islands. Snorkelling equipment is provided for those wanting to swim in some of the world's clearest water. The cruise returns to Esperance at 12.30 pm, where you will reflect on this incredible journey over lunch.

Those preferring to skip the boat cruise will take in the breathtaking scenery on the Pink Lake Tourist Drive. This includes an easy coastal walk from Twilight Cove to Bluehaven Beach. You will join the rest of the group at 12.30 pm for lunch. Your Guide will transfer the group to the Esperance Airport for your 4.15 pm flight back to Perth where you can make your own onwards travel arrangements.

The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group.

Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however, they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined.
