7 Day Cape York & Daintree Tour

  • Explore the northernmost tip of Australia
  • Visit Cape Trib., Thursday Island & more
Includes flight, accommodation & transfers

Cape York is Queensland’s last great frontier - a vast expanse of unspoiled wilderness, of dusty dirt roads, wild national parks and sunsets that will stay with you forever. Stretching north of Cairns all the way to the tip of the Australian mainland, it’s a bucket list destination best explored by four-wheel drive. To that end, this incredible seven day guided tour is the perfect way to see it.

Departing from Cairns, you’ll embark on an adventure rarely undertaken by most Australians. Visit Thursday Island in the remote Torres Strait, enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool waters of Fruit Bat Falls, visit Bramwell Station - Australia’s northernmost cattle station - and marvel at the sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria. You’ll also stop at the colourful Lions Den Hotel, an historic pub established in 1875, together with the aboriginal art galleries of Split Rock. Step back in time in Cooktown, at the mouth of the Endeavour River; travel through the Daintree Rainforest via the rugged Bramwell Track; spot wild crocodiles in Lakefield National Park - and more! Package includes a one-way flight between Cairns and Horn Island, along with six nights in either standard or basic accommodation (depending on your option chosen), and all national park fees. Are you ready to tick off Cape York?

Choose from 2 unforgettable itineraries:
- Itinerary 1: Cairns to Cape York by plane and then down to Cairns over land
- Itinerary 2: Cairns to Cape York over land and then down to Cairns by plane

Want to experience another side of Queensland? Why not combine your trip with this 9 day Gulf Savannah discovery tour? Dates are available for you to experience both tours back-to-back.

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
Cape York
- The Cape York region has a tropical climate with high to very high temperatures experienced throughout the year. The average annual temperature is 26°C. The December to February average temperature is 28°C; for July to August, the average is 23°C. Annual and seasonal average rainfall are variable, affected by local factors such as topography and vegetation, and broader scale weather patterns such as the El Niño–Southern Oscillation.
- Annual average rainfall is 1305mm. The rainfall is highly seasonal, with most rain falling during the wet season (October–March) either as heavy thunderstorms, monsoonal lows or tropical cyclones. The region’s annual average potential evaporation is almost 50% greater than the annual average rainfall, which contributes to the depletion of soil moisture
