5 Day Barossa & Kangaroo Island Tour

  • Discover beaches, wineries, wildlife & more
  • Savour the foodie mecca of Adelaide at leisure
Incl. wine tasting, touring, ferries & more

South Australia is home to some pretty bucket list-worthy destinations, like the rugged mountains of Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park and the untamed expanse of Eyre Peninsula. Yet, there are two which sit above almost all others - Kangaroo Island and the Barossa Valley wine region. Luckily for you, this five day tour takes in both of these local icons at a truly amazing price!

Delve into the historic, cultural and gourmet delights of vibrant Adelaide at leisure, and then climb aboard the SeaLink ferry for a trip over to beautiful Kangaroo Island. While there, seek out wild sea lions within the Seal Bay Conservation Park, witness the regeneration of Flinders Chase National Park first-hand, and enjoy a taste of the island’s wares with visits to local cafes and producers. Back on the mainland, a visit to the mighty Barossa Valley wine region is in order. Experience a full day wine tour with visits to four celebrated local vineyards and cellar doors, plus take in stunning views of the region atop Menglers Hill Lookout. With four nights in 4-star hotel accommodation, daily breakfast and lunch, experienced tour guides and ferries, this is a trip worth raising a glass to.

ITINERARY

Show All Info

Make your own way to Adelaide for an early afternoon check-in to your centrally located hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Why not take in the Adelaide Central Market, one of the largest undercover markets in the southern hemisphere, soak up the sunshine at Glenelg Beach, or perhaps visit one of the many sensational museums in the city. When you’re feeling peckish, you’ll be spoiled for choice - Adelaide is home of some of the country’s premier restaurants.

Overnight: Sage Hotel, Adelaide
Meals included: None

With an early start, you will be collected from the hotel for a scenic coach transfer to Cape Jervis taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its vineyards, coastal views and rolling hills. On arrival, board the SeaLink ferry for the 45-minute crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Here you will board your luxury SeaLink coach and your local driver/guide will take you on a tour of South Australia’s premier nature-based tourism destination.

Visit Seal Bay Conservation Park where you will be taken on a guided beach walk with an experienced guide and be amongst a colony of rare Australian sea lions. Get up close and see these wild creatures frolic and laze about – a truly amazing and unforgettable experience. Enjoy a delicious 2-course lunch at an Aussie Pub before visiting the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park to feed some kangaroos and get up close to the Kangaroo Island Koalas while listening to the Keeper talk about the cuddly mammals. There is a photo opportunity to hold a Koala for an additional cost (additional cost).

Later, spend the afternoon in the Flinders Chase National Park, which was devastated in the worst fire to ever hit the island in January 2020. You’ll see that the regeneration of the native bush occurs so quickly after the event and there will be many opportunities to take photos. As you travel through the park, keep an eye out for echidnas, wallabies, reptiles, and koalas. See the rugged coastline from walks around Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks provide great photographic opportunities, and the Admirals Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal the spectacular rock archway, a natural nursery and safe haven for playful Long-nosed Fur Seals. There is also a possibility that you will see more kangaroos and wallabies on your way to your overnight accommodation.

Please note:
- Itinerary is subject to change without notice
- Koala holding will not be available during hot summer days and days of extreme weather. Our general height and age restrictions is 140cm or over 12 years. Other conditions may apply.

Overnight: Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge, Kangaroo Island

Your exploration of Kangaroo Island continues today. Start your day with a delicious buffet breakfast before heading off on a day tour. Today your local guide will introduce you to some of the island’s leading creators where you will see an “In-Flight” display of raptors and taste some local Kangaroo Island produce.

Your first stop will be the fascinating Birds of Prey Display at Raptor Domain for an educational, interactive, and inspiring experience. The only “In-Flight” Birds of Prey display in South Australia, it is thought by many to be the most interactive Birds of Prey display in Australia. Next, travel to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery for a delicious 2-course lunch followed by an introductory talk about the history of the oil distillery and take a guided tour. Finish off with some free time in their souvenir shop where you will find an assortment of Eucalyptus products. Our next stop is the Clifford’s Honey Farm shop, home of the famous island homemade honey ice-cream. Here you can see a working beehive where you can try to spot the Queen bee, taste different varieties of pure Kangaroo Island Ligurian honey and sample honey beauty products and purchase goods to take home as a memento.

This afternoon visit Kangaroo Island Spirits, a local company that specialises in handcrafted premium Australian Spirits and is South Australia’s only boutique distillery. Known as KIS, the company operates a micro distillery and the award-winning Gin, Vodka and Liqueurs are all produced on the premises. Our final stop on tour is the new False Cape Wines cellar door which is made from recycled wood, jetty timbers and limestone sourced on the property. Here you can take part in a structured wine tasting while enjoying the peaceful views of the surrounding vineyards. Your tour ends at the Penneshaw Hotel where you have ample time to have dinner (own expense) before returning to the Penneshaw Ferry Terminal for your ferry and coach transfer back to Adelaide.

Be collected from the hotel and travel to the nearby Barossa Valley, enjoying views of its stunning vineyards along the way. Breathe in the fresh air and the beauty of the wineries, dotted amongst peaceful villages wrapped in leafy greenness.

Your full day of wine tasting will take in four beautiful wineries and cellar doors, giving you ample opportunity to sample the fruits of the region. One of the other highlights is a chance to interact with the winemakers themselves, learning their story and hearing how they create their wines.
