This morning, you will drive to the nearby city of Nara and enjoy a half day sightseeing tour. Visit Nara Park and enjoy time to explore Todaiji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site which was constructed over 1200 years ago as the head of all provincial Buddhist temples in Japan. The main hall houses one of the largest statues of Buddha, which is 15m tall. Nara Park is also home to hundreds of free roaming deer - you can feed them deer senbei (crackers), which can be purchased at stalls throughout the park for 150 yen a pack. If you bow to the deer with the deer senbei in hand, they will bow back to you. 

Afterwards, continue onwards to Kasuga Taisha, Nara's most celebrated shrine. It was established at the same time as the capital and is dedicated to the deity responsible for the protection of the city. Kasuga Taisha was also the tutelary shrine of the Fujiwara, Japan's most powerful family clan during most of the Nara and Heian Periods. After lunch (not included), travel back to Osak, check into the new hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Today, enjoy a free day to explore Osaka at your own pace or take part in an optional tour to Hiroshima on Japan's famous Shinkansen (not included), known in English as a bullet train.

Optional Tour: Hiroshima Tour – 47,000 Yen (approx. $580 AUD) per person 
This morning transfer to Shin-Osaka train station, where your bullet train awaits. Climb aboard and marvel at the train’s incredible velocity during a 2-hour ride to Hiroshima. On arrival, continue the journey to Miyajimaguchi by coach or train then board a boat travelling to majestic Miyajima Island, otherwise known as Itsukushima, or Divine Island. A landmass hailed as one of Japan’s most beautiful landscapes. Disembark and discover the natural and cultural treasures of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed island for 45-minutes with your guide. See the shimmering Itsukushima Shrine then revitalise with a delicious lunch in a local eatery (not included). Re-board the boat and cruise back to Hiroshima to reflect on the history of the region. Take a moment of contemplation at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a historical site near to where the atomic bomb exploded. See exhibitions that articulate the destruction the bomb caused and marvel at the city’s regenerative recovery. Finally, board a bus to the Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome), a skeletal structure that miraculously survived the 1945 attack. Return to the train station for the exhilarating return journey to Osaka on the bullet train, where the tour concludes.

This morning, depart Osaka for Kyoto. Upon arrival, enjoy some free time to explore the historic town or take the opportunity to join an optional tour of Kyoto (not included). The bus will depart from downtown Kyoto at 4:00pm to travel onwards to Gifu. 

Optional Tour: Kyoto Tour – 5,800 Yen (approx. $72 AUD) per person
The tour includes a stop at Fushimi Inari Shrine, an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It’s famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. The tour continues with a visit to Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), a Zen temple in northern Kyoto which has gold leaf covered floors on the top two floors. The last stop of the tour is to witness a Kimono Fashion Show where beautiful women wearing varieties of kimono and obi (sash) appear on stage with Japanese music.

This morning you will visit the historic villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Located in a mountainous region that was cut off from the rest of the world for a long period of time, these villages, with their Gassho-style houses, survived on the cultivation of mulberry trees and the rearing of silkworms. Both are examples of a traditional way of life that is perfectly adapted to the environment and the people’s social and economic circumstances. Enjoy a walk among the incredible houses. Afterwards travel to Takayama Jinya, a former government outpost established to bring the Hida Province under the direct control of the Edo Bakufu. Next, travel to the hotel in Matsumoto.

After breakfast, drive to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station. Located 2300m above sea level, it offers a vantage point for Mt Fuji and the surrounding lakes (weather permitting). The 5th Station also features shrines, torii gates and souvenir shops. Afterwards continue onwards to Lake Ashi, nearby in Hakone National Park, to admire the scenery as you enjoy a short cruise across the lake. The waters are overlooked by surrounding mountains, including Mt Fuji and Mt Komagatake. Arrive in Tokyo this evening, check into the hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Start the tour by visiting the Meiji Jingu Shrine, a key Shinto religious site that was dedicated to the Imperial Family in 1926. Walk among the serene gardens that surround the shrine as you listen to details about its importance from your guide. Head back to the bus and drive past the Japanese House of Parliament as you continue to the Imperial Palace East Garden. This idyllic outdoor space, home to a traditional Japanese garden, tea pavilion, stone walls and a moat, is situated within the complex of an Edo-era castle. Continue onwards to Nakamise Shopping Street, a brightly-coloured thoroughfare of food vendors and souvenir stores that leads to Asakusa Kannon Temple (Senso-ji), one of Japan’s most important Buddhist sites. Stay with your guide as you explore the elaborate gardens, architecture and shrines that surround the site. Later head to Asakusa, one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo and then continue to the Ryogoku Area, known for its sumo culture, for lunch (not included). After lunch visit the most famous landmark in Japan, Tokyo Tower, and enjoy the mesmerising view of Tokyo from the observation deck. The tour concludes with a transfer back to the hotel.

Tour Guide: 
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group. 
Tour Leader: 
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined. 
Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured. 
May is a beautiful month in the city. The days are longer, with the sun rising about 4:30am and staying up until almost 7pm by May 31. You can expect temperatures during the day to be around 20 to 21°C, with 132mm falling over 16 days this month.
June ushers in the high heat and humidity, along with the rain. This is the start of Tokyo’s six week rainy season, and in June, about 181mm of rain falls over 20 days, so you will need a light rain jacket or poncho, and ideally, light, water repellent or waterproof clothing.

At TripADeal we do not arrange seat selection. It is important to highlight that some Airlines do not allow pre-selected seats. We strongly suggest you contact the Airline directly with seating allocation requirements and or arrive at the airport earlier to arrange your seating. Passport Validity:
Customers are required to provide valid passport details either at the time of purchase, or no later than 45 days prior to departure date. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the booking. In this instance customers will be responsible for any costs and fees incurred.
Daily breakfast is included in the tour, for all other meals; lunches and dinners the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. It is your responsibility to notify TripADeal of any dietary requests/requirements. Please note; we will do our best to meet your requests/requirements, however cannot guarantee that we will always be able to.
You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. The driver will assist with the uploading and off-loading of the luggage from the coach.

Our vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair access, so unfortunately our tours are currently not suitable for wheelchair users and those less mobile.
