Overnight: Heritance Kandalama, Kandalama Meals included: Breakfast

After breakfast leave for Dambulla. Visit The UNESCO listed world heritage site of Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla. In the city of Dambulla lies a hub which has been treasured by many kings since the 1st century B.C. Today, an icon in the face of Sri Lanka, Dambulla Rock Temple houses some of the most unique drawings in magnificently constructed cave temples flanking the golden temple of Dambulla. Observe the beautiful cave paintings along the walls sheltering 150 statues of Lord Buddha. As you enter the retreat, look straight up to the gigantic Buddha statue glittering in gold.

On completion leave for Kandy. En-route visit a spice garden in Matale to see how spices are grown in Sri Lanka. On arrival in Kandy, embark on a guided city tour. Last ruled by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe - before it was brought under the British rule in 1815 - Kandy was the World Heritage Site and last royal capital of Sri Lankan kings. The city thrives on culture, history and heritage and is one of the most popular tourist destinations attracting visitors from across the globe. Experience an ancient Kandy legacy engraved around its crown jewel, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. A stroll across this small lakeside town – cradled among the misty hills - will feature the Kandy City Centre - a bustling market place with the latest, world class brands, bazaar, an arts and crafts centre, as well as a gem museum and lapidary. Experience the vibrant Sri Lankan culture with an evening filled with traditional music and drumming. On completion check-in to hotel.

Overnight: Earl’s Regent Hotel, Kandy Meals included: Breakfast

After breakfast leave for Galle. On arrival in Galle, commence a city tour. Galle, the epic Southern capital, is the intersection where classic Dutch architecture meets a tropical setting. Walk the Dutch-haunted streets listening to the creaks of wooden saloon doors and observe how European architecture mingles with South Asian traditions. There is evidence to show the city’s original ramparts and bastions have been preserved more than three and a half centuries. Walk clockwise within the Galle Dutch fort to see the 'old gate' carrying the British coat of arms. Flanking the old gate is the Zwart bastion - the oldest of all – and the 18-foot lighthouse next to the Point Utretcht Bastion. This Dutch bliss is painted with streets that spread in a rectangular grid pattern pierced with houses carrying Dutch colonial style verandas. Hop into the Dutch Hospital Shopping Complex to be mesmerised by an array of souvenir selections. On completion check in to Amari Galle.

Overnight: Amari Galle, Galle Meals included: Breakfast

After breakfast enjoy the day at leisure to relax by the beach, or to explore the Fort on your own. New in 2017, Amari Galle is set to become one of Sri Lanka’s finest 4-5 star hotels. With tasteful architecture and fascinating sculptures, there’s an air of sophistication throughout the hotel. Lush greenery and stunning coastal location make it a beautiful natural spot for a luxurious break. Combining Sri Lankan charm and traditional Asian hospitality, you’re guaranteed a stay filled with beauty and class.

Overnight: Amari Galle, Galle Meals included: Breakfast

After breakfast leave for Ambalangoda to visit the Ariyapala Mask Factory and Museum. The town is famous for masks and puppets. The traditional masks are carved from light Balsa like Kaduru wood (Nux vomica). Kaduru trees grow in the marshy lands bordering paddy fields. The wood is smoke dried for a week in preparation. The hand carved and hand painted masks in traditional dance dramas are vibrant and colourful. On completion leave for Lunuganga Estate in the resort town of Benoto.

Lunuganga Estate was the country home of the renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. Started in 1947, the garden led Bawa, a lawyer called to the Bar at the Inner Temple in 1940, to decide to become an architect. As he went on to become Sri Lanka’s and one of Asia’s most prolific and influential architects, the garden at the Lunuganga estate remained his first muse and experimental laboratory for new ideas. He continued to change and experiment with its spaces and structures throughout his life until his final illness in 1998. Left to the Lunuganga Trust on his demise in 2003, the gardens are now open to the public and the buildings on the estate are run as a country house hotel. On completion continue to Colombo.

Overnight: Ramada, Colombo

Enjoy your last morning in Sri Lanka at breakfast before transferring to the airport for your short flight to the Maldives! (approx. 1.5 hours). The temperature is constant at around 27°C on the coast, both the air and the water!
March is the hottest month in Maldives with an average temperature of 29°C and the coldest is January at 27°C with the most daily sunshine hours in February. The best month to swim in the sea is in April when the average sea temperature is 30°C, however water temperatures are still around an average 29°C during June and July.
