ITINERARY

Expand All

Today depart from either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, *Adelaide or *Perth for Xi'an (via Guangzhou, Beijing or Shanghai). Fly with either China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines to name a few (subject to availability). Upon arrival, a tour representative will meet you at the airport and then escort you to check into your hotel.

Grand Noble Hotel, Xi'an Meals included: In-Flight

This morning first visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, a major tourist site located on the central axis of the Jianfu Temple in south Xi’an. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda in the temple is very delicate in appearance and is completely built of stone. The top three floors have been damaged, and it really adds to the appeal of the pagoda. As a national AAAA scenic spot and a world heritage site, the Buddhist pagoda survives from the Tang Dynasty. Afterwards visit the Terracotta Warriors Reproduction Factory. At the factory, talented craftsmen make these life-size replicas in the same manner as their counterparts did 2,200 years ago – with just their hands, a few tools, and clay. In addition to learning about the process, you will also have a great opportunity to make your own miniature reproduction of the famous artefact. This is a very special activity exclusive to TripADeal guests. The highlight today is a visit to the Terracotta Warriors & Horses Museum to see the life-sized defending army to the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. Unearthed near Xi’an, the hundreds of life size sculptures of soldiers, chariots, and horses are considered a world wonder. With different facial expressions and weaponry adorning each soldier, the Terracotta Warriors were intended to convey the Qin Emperor into the afterlife. This site is among the top archaeological excavations of the 20th century.

Grand Noble Hotel, Xi'an Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch

After breakfast, be transferred to airport for your fight to Beijing. Arrive in Beijing, the capital city of China. Be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Welcome to Beijing, China's capital and the former imperial capital for over the past centuries. Beijing is absorbing new things at a lightning speed while trying to keep its cultural legacy intact. The rest of the day is free at your own leisure.

Four Points by Sheraton or Holiday Inn Central Plaza, Beijing Meals included: Breakfast

The exploration of Beijing begins with a visit to Tiananmen Square, which is noted as one of the largest public squares in the world, and then the Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City, also known officially as the Imperial Palace Museum, was the seat of Imperial power for 500 years. Enjoy a special visit to the hidden Treasure Gallery, a series of exhibition spaces in the northeast part of the Forbidden City in an area of the Museum known as the Palace of Tranquil Longevity Sector (Ningshou gong qu). Later visit the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Summer Palace, a favourite retreat for many of the emperors during the Qing Dynasty. In the evening, enjoy a Peking duck dinner, the region's most famous dish.

Four Points by Sheraton or Holiday Inn Central Plaza, Beijing Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch;Dinner

This morning on the way to the Great Wall, will stop at a Jade Museum to learn the history of Jade. In Chinese, jade is pronounced as 'Yu', and it has a history in China of at least four thousand years. Next you will visit the Great Wall, a monumental feat of ancient Chinese engineering. Visit The Juyong Pass, which is located in the valley sandwiched by the Jundu Mountains and the ending of the Taihang Mountains. It used to be a stronghold, difficult of access dating back to the Spring and Autumn, the Warring States period (5000-6000 years ago). The Great Wall around the Pass extends over 4 km snaking the ridge of the mountains forming the valley. The natural landscape surrounding the Pass is extremely beautiful. Tonight, choose to attend an optional large scale dramatic musical, “The Golden Mask Dynasty” (at your own expense).

Four Points by Sheraton or Holiday Inn Central Plaza, Beijing Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch

This morning, first visit the Freshwater Pearl Centre to learn about the types of pearls. Then visit the Beijing Zoo to see China’s adorable national treasure – the Giant Panda. Then enjoy a Tai Chi demonstration under the guidance of a Tai Chi Master. This ancient technique introduces Qi (internal energy) to improve the body's general state of health and helps fight against some chronic diseases. It is easy-to-learn and provides an effective form of relaxation. In the afternoon, take the opportunity to join an optional tour (not included) to see Beijing’s 700 year old Hutong's (narrow lanes) area by old fashioned pedicab, as well as visit a local family living in a courtyard style home to experience the local customs of old Beijing people and their unique architectural structure. The optional tour also includes a visit to Shichahai, a historic scenic area consisting of three lakes (Qianhai, meaning Front Sea; Houhai, meaning Back Sea and Xihai, meaning West Sea), surrounding places of historic interest and scenic beauty, and remnants of old-style local residences, Hutong and Courtyard.

Four Points by Sheraton or Holiday Inn Central Plaza, Beijing Meals included: Breakfast

Enjoy a high speed bullet train experience from Beijing to Suzhou (approximately a 5-hour journey). Suzhou, which dates back to 514 BC, is sometimes called the "Venice of the East". Visit Shan Tang Street, which has always been regarded as the first name of Suzhou ancient streets. It has a long history of about 1,100 years, its layout and architecture are the best to represent the characteristics of Suzhou's old alleys, and it has connections to many ancient Chinese celebrities and anecdotes. Take the opportunity to cruise along the Grand Canal (not included) to view life along China’s ancient waterway.

Holiday Inn Huirong Plaza or Grand Metropark Hotel, Suzhou Meals included: Breakfast

Today visit the famous Lingering Garden. The Lingering Garden is a renowned classical Chinese garden and is recognised with other classical Suzhou gardens as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. China is known for its silk, so of course a visit to the Silk Spinning Factory is in order. Afterwards drive to Hangzhou (approximately a two-hour coach ride). Take a small boat ride on the West Lake another UNESCO World Heritage Site, which reveals the ethereal beauty of Hangzhou's willow draped islands.

Grand Metropark Hotel or Grand New Century Hotel Yuhang, Hangzhou Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch

Hangzhou is considered the tea capital of China, so a visit to the city just isn’t complete without a trip to a local tea house. This morning start this amazing day with a special visit to the Tea House at Meijiawu Tea Village located at the hinterland of West Lake Park which is considered one of the most important Longjing tea productions in China. At the Tea House, learn how to make the Longjing Tea including tea leaves picking, frying and tasting. Next, follow your guide on a walk through the plantation and see firsthand the process of farming tea trees and picking tea leaves (the walk through is subject to the plantation’s operational conditions and requirements, weather conditions and guests’ fitness levels and may not be always available). The entire experience is a special activity exclusive to TripADeal guests. Drive to Shanghai to visit the famous Bund (approximately a 2-hour coach ride). Shanghai is divided by the Huang Pu River into eastern and western sections. Modern mega high rises are seen on the eastern side while traditional European style architecture may be seen on the western side. The Bund is a five-block riverfront promenade with many of Shanghai's banks and trading houses. Tonight there is an optional activity to watch a superb and thrilling Chinese Acrobatic Show “ERA: The Intersection of Time” (not included).

Renaissance Caohejing Hotel or Guoman Hotel, Shanghai Meals included: Breakfast;Lunch

Enjoy some free time at leisure this morning before stepping back in time at the Shanghai Museum with more than 120,000 art objects on show. The farewell dinner this evening will be a banquet of delicious Shanghai cuisine. Following this, why not join the optional “Night Cruise on the Huangpu River” (not included) and complete the night sailing the tranquil waters of Huangpu River.

Renaissance Caohejing Hotel or Guoman Hotel, Shanghai Meals included: Breakfast;Dinner

Today fly from Shanghai to Wuhan. Upon arrival board a coach for Yichang (approximately a 3- hour bus ride) and drive through the scenic countryside, see different landscapes and learn what Chinese people's lives are like. This evening, embark on the luxury cruise ship at Yichang Port. Your fabulous Yangtze River tour begins.

Then sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest (5mi/8km), narrowest (500ft/152m), and most dramatic gorge. Additional optional Shore Excursion (not included) to White Emperor City (river conditions permitting), an ancient city overlooking the western end of Qutang Gorge.

Customer Reviews

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to China in May this year, it was just wow from start to finish, the accommodation was 5 star, the weather was perfect! blue skies. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, funny and helpful. the sights were amazing, we met some wonderful new friends, I highly recommend China as a holiday destination and TripADeal as a travel agent. Can’t wait to book our next trip with TripADeal.

When I first saw the ad in the Sunday paper China holiday for that amount of money I couldn't believe it I was very skeptical but we paid our money and went on the trip and I was amazed it was fantastic far exceeded my expectations everything was so well run and our Chinese tour guides we great I couldn’t recommend Trip A Deal any higher for value for money and quality packages.

Charles B, NSW

We returned from our trip to China happy with accommodations, tour inclusions, local tour guides and our wonderful fellow travellers. We enjoyed wonderful experiences and sharing these with people on the tour. China was an amazing country to visit. So many pinch me moments such as climbing the great wall, the terracotta warriors, walking through the Forbidden City cruising down the Yangtze, riding the Maglev train and not but least the sheer scale of cities.Which Tripadeal next is the dilemma.
