Discover Vancouver with a day of leisure. Enjoy complimentary access to Vancouver Lookout (voucher to be provided with your travel documentation), and take in the view of one of the world's most liveable cities. Jump in the glass elevators for a thrilling, forty second, 130 metre climb to the observation deck, where you'll have a bird's eye view of the city.

This morning, transfer to Rocky Mountaineer Station in Downtown Vancouver. Travel onboard Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. The scenery on today's journey will change dramatically, from the rapids of Hells Gate in the Fraser Canyon, to the sheer drops along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops. Please note: accommodation in Kamloops is confirmed by Rocky Mountaineer 30 days prior to departure date and accommodation will differ for SilverLeaf and GoldLeaf customers (subject to availability).

Your rail journey continues north east along the banks of the North Thompson River, through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies; Pyramid Falls; and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. Arrive in the resort town of Jasper in the evening, where the rail trip ends and you will be transferred to your hotel. Please note: Customers travelling on the 10th June 2018 departure are restricted to a hotel room with only one queen bed on this night. This means twin share customers will need to either share a bed, or request a roll-out mattress, which will be subject to availability.

Breathtaking scenery will be the highlight of your journey south. Soaring rocky mountain peaks, vast valleys, icefields and turquoise lakes are what make the journey along Icefield Parkway one of the most captivating drives in the world. From the Columbia Icefield, the 'Ice Explorer' snow coach will take you across the surface of the Athabasca Glacier. A short stop at Lake Louise provides one of Canada's most iconic photo opportunities. Continue on to the resort town of Banff, where you will be transferred to your hotel.

The drive today is on the famed Trans-Canada Highway, where you'll travel a route chartered by the railroad engineers and fur traders of the mid 1800s. Drive along Kicking Horse Pass - the highest point of the drive - from the Rockies into the Columbia River Valley, and on to Rogers Pass in Glacier National Park. The Selkirk Mountains receive massive amounts of winter snow and are home to more than one hundred active avalanche zones. Continue through the Monashee Mountain Range to your hotel for the night.

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
Below are examples of the Annual Weather Averages in some of the regions visited on tour.

Vancouver
August is the hottest month in Vancouver with an average temperature of 18°C.

Seattle
Seattle averages a daily maximum temperature for June to August that's between 23°C. to 26°C. The minimum temperature usually falls between 13°C to 14°C.

Juneau
In July, the warmest month, the average day time temperature rises to 17°C with the most daily sunshine hours. 

Banff
Averages for Banff in July. The months of July and August offer the best summer weather in Banff. July is the peak summer tourist period and enjoys warm, sunny and long days. The average daytime temperatures are around 22°C whereas the average minimum temperatures are around 7°C.

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide: 
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group. 

Tour Leader: 
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined. 

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

Meals:


Daily breakfast is included on the tour, for all other meals; lunches and dinners the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. You can also enquire about any allergies and food and if necessary advise meals to be to be prepared with any medication you require.



Luggage:
You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. The driver will assist with the uploading and off-loading of their luggage from the coach.

Gratuities:
Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for services of the tour leader/driver on days 5 to 7 (when available) throughout the tour. The recommended tip for the tour leader/driver is $2 CAD per person per day, which will be collected whilst on tour. Pre-paid gratuities onboard the cruise are included in the package price. Any optional extras purchased onboard the cruise will have up to an 18% gratuity added, which also applies to any applicable bonus cruise inclusions.

Fitness Level Required / Mobility:
Our vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair access, so unfortunately our tours are currently not suitable for wheelchair users and those less mobile. 
Please note: a basic level of fitness will be required. There are no demanding walks or tours included. If you have any concerns please consult your healthcare provider prior to purchase/travel.
