Today depart from either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, *Adelaide or *Perth for Taipei. Fly with China Southern Airlines.

Upon arrival, meet the tour representative and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon you will have leisure time to explore the vibrant city of Taipei. Taipei is a shopaholic’s heaven. You can find all sorts of bargains from world famous brands at one shopping district.

After breakfast drive to Sun Moon Lake, where the east side is shaped like a "sun", and the west side is shaped like a "moon" - hence the name. Sightseeing around the area includes the famous Wen Wu Temple, Holy Monk Shrine, Peacock Garden, and Literature Warrior Temple, dedicated to Confucius as Master of Pen and to Kuan Ti as Master of Sword.

After touring around Sun Moon Lake, enjoy a delicious local lunch at the Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant. After lunch, depart for Nine Aboriginal Tribes Culture Village to see the beautiful gardens and shows of the theme park. Experience Sun Moon Lake Sky Ropeway (1878m length) for the beautiful panoramic view of the lake. Tonight you will stay in Chiayi City.

This morning drive to Alishan (Ali Mountain), which is located at the end of the Alishan Forest Railway. Weather permitting, you will be able to see the sunrise on Jhushan (Bamboo Mountain) after an early morning walk through spectacular valleys and trails. Sightseeing around the Alishan National Scenic Area includes Sister Lake, Zhaoping Park, Sochun Temple, Old Alishan Tree Site, Eternity Bridge, Alishan High Mountain Tea Farm, just to name a few.

After experiencing Alishan, you will drive to Kaohsiung City and enjoy a city tour. See the largest industrial harbour in Taiwan - Kaohsiung Harbour. Visit Sizihwan, the former British Consulate overlooking the Kaohsiung Harbour. In the evening, you will visit the Liuhe Night Market, to taste Taiwanese local food (not included). You will visit the famous Love River, a popular couples destination known for its cafe culture.

After breakfast, depart Kaohsiung for an exciting journey towards the east side of Taiwan. Enjoy a visit to Kenting National Park, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful natural forests in Taiwan. It is located in the south, with popular surfing beaches bordered by banana and sugar cane plantations. Other sightseeing includes the southernmost tip of Taiwan, Maopitou, named after the shape of cat-nose-like rock, and Sail Rock. In the afternoon visit the Eluanbi Light House, the world's first military equipped light house.

Experience the highlights of the East Coast. Known as 'Taiwan's last unspoiled land', the East Coast National Scenic Area stretches for 170km. Weather and erosion have produced a wide range of landmarks here. Drive north via Siaoyeliou, Dulan, Tunghe Bridge (where you may see wild monkeys), and Sanxiantai. Sanxiantai is reached by crossing the appropriately-named Eight Arch Bridge. The island of Sanxiantai (which translates to Three Immortals Terrace) has three large rock formations and, legend says, was visited by three of the eight Immortals from Chinese mythology. Upon arrival into Hualien, the rest of the day is at your leisure to relax or explore.

Following breakfast, visit Taroko National Park. With its gorges, lush flora and mountainous landscape, Taroko is one of Taiwan’s most stunning locations. Taroko Gorge is an exceptionally beautiful, narrow ravine created by the Liwu River, which has cut deep into the mountains of solid marble. The road is carved into the sheer rock walls winding past forested peaks and cliffs towering thousands of feet above, while a river roars past gigantic marble boulders hundreds of feet below. Stops will be made at Swallow Grotto, Changchun Temple, and Shakadang Trail. You will travel back to Taipei with a stop at Qingshui Cliff, and pass through Syue-Shan Long Tunnel (12.9 kms). Tonight you will be driven around to witness the vibrant sights and nightlife of Taipei, e.g. Taipei 101 Building and the Night Markets.

Enjoy a morning tour of Taipei. First drive by the Presidential Building. This renaissance-style building has been the highest seat of government in Taiwan for over a century, first as the office of the governor general's office during the Japanese colonial period, and after 1949 as Taiwan's 'White House'. Next visit Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, which towers over 25 hectares of landscaped gardens, graceful pavilions, and ponds in downtown Taipei. The tour then continues to the National Palace Museum, which houses the world's largest and most valuable collection of Chinese art treasures. The collection is so large it cannot be displayed all at once! While many popular pieces remain on permanent display, other items are rotated regularly, making for a unique visit each time.

Most of Taiwan has a beautiful warm climate all year round.. Winters are warm and summers are hot and wet, with typhoons and thunderstorms. Because Taiwan is a relatively small island, the ocean breezes have a cooling effect so it never feels too hot. Please note that the high alpine areas like Alishan do get cold.The annual average temperature is a comfortable 22 °C, with lowest temperatures ranging from 12 to 7 °C.

Tour Guide: 
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group. 

Tour Leader: 
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined. 

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all TripADeal travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured. 

For meals not included the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. You can also enquire about any allergies and food and if necessary advise meals to be to be prepared with any medication you require.

You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. The driver will assist with the uploading and offloading of their luggage from the coach.

Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for services of the tour leader (when available) and driver throughout the tour. The recommended tip for the tour leader and driver is $10 per person per day, which will be collected whilst on tour.

Our vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair access, so unfortunately our tours are currently not suitable for wheelchair users and those less mobile.
